Gilmore Girls: Well, the top-notch, as-good-as-his-wife Daniel Palladino from last year has clearly reverted to the traditional one. Which isn't terrible -- there were still some wonderful moments -- but too many sequences (most of them involving the dog and TJ) just fell flat, and there was the usual continuity stupidity (Rory's car is impounded, which means she made record time on her forty-mile walk to Luke's). Still a good episode, but not nearly as good as the opener. And, um, is there a milk carton with Lane's picture on it?

House: Hell, yeah! Another damned fine episode, with some brilliant twists. I'd heard that they'd originally wanted Dakota Fanning for the role of the little girl, but the girl they cast was just perfect. My only mild complaint was that House's iPod seemed was apparently rewired for tv, so that hitting one button managed to do seven different things. And next week's episode looks to give us a nice Cuddy plotline.

Tonight, I'll watch Lost, as Veronica Mars doesn't premiere until next week. After that, I'll be relying on the kindness of strangers (strangers with torrents and/or burners) to keep up with what's happening on the island.

House off to a very nice start...

Am I the only one who thinks Cuddy's gotten much thinner this season?

she just seemed like she's gone a bit Calista...then again it might be just me or she's compensating for having Sela Ward about...or maybe it is the 'you got back' joke..

oh yes, a big FU to the Emmy idiots for passing over Laurie and McShane and blankly punching in Spader for a show that wasnt even on half the year!

ROFLMFAO. You took the words right out of my mouth. It really was a brilliant ep. I'm not entirely convinced they've dropped House/Cameron as he still completely plays favorites, but it's working how they're handling it.

House's iPod. ROFL. FF, FF, FF...Rewind...?

Gilmore Girls: Yes, Where is Lane? Is she touring? And Jackson and Sookie? Though I think Sookie was in the promos for next week. Less TJ. More Lane. Thank you. Also, please lose the very bad wig Luke is wearing.

Am v. excited for Veronica Mars next week.

We're still covering the summer. Lane is probably on tour with the band. Yeah, I thought they kind of left the dog thread hanging. After about the mid-point, it just never came back.

What I want to know is, who's the rocket scientist who decided to release the Veronica Mars DVDs two weeks after the season premiere?

Yes! Lost Tonight! Lost Lost Lost Lost Loooooooooost!

I'm happy about the new season of Lost starting.

And don't forget to Tivo the hour before Lost either; there's going to be a one-off about the Lost phenomenon. Most likely it'll be a puff piece, but I'm sure there will be a nugget or two of interest.

And did I mention Lost premieres tonight?

That's interesting, that they treat it as a regular episode. Are the networks no longer engaging in Tivo-busting?

ABC comes in a little blurry for me over-the-air. Sometimes better, sometimes worse.

Hmm. Wouldn't that more accurately be described as ABC using TiVo as a tool for NBC- and CBS-busting?

I'll be taping the show every week, because I like to watch each episode twice to pore over all the details and clues. I'll gladly share the tape with y'all.

Are you watching at home tonight?

I love House, but it had a little bit of the "very special episode" feeling to it.

And, will any of House's patients EVER die? It's sort of pointless if you always know the ending.

The homeless woman died - remember? The one with rabies?

And in the episode with sleeping sickness, the chick didn't die, but her husband certainly left her - so I don't think it's quite 'happy ending-ville' ..

Thanks to Netflix, I just saw the rabies one today on DVD. It's episode 10 of the first season, "Histories." It made me laugh, and it made me cry. There aren't many shows that can do that. Highly recommended.

By the way, that rabies thing is a bit of a spoiler, so when you finally do get to watch that episode, forget about the rabies. That way, you can be surprised near the end when you find out the lady has rabies.

Bloody House made me bloody cry. Twice. Bloody bastard.

Also, the drill? Not really a sound I need to hear in my medical dramas. My spine is still kind of ooky wrt that.

Damn that was a fine episode.
