I already squeed this weekend about Teen Titans. I just loved it. Love me some Doom Patrol. I only wish they'd had The Chief (although Mento makes a suitable asshat/leader). But still, so much fun, and they'll clearly be back. I can only assume that Plasmus and Warp, who we've already seen, will be joining the Brotherhood at some point. Would love to see Madame Rouge, Phobia, and Houngan, maybe Trinity, even.
JLU was just fantastic, for both episodes. Again, we get the overarching plot, with each individual episode still standing alone. And Holy Retro, Batman -- we get The Warlord and The Viking Prince? Love it. Also loved seeing more of Faraday, the first real frontline appearance of Stargirl, and some quality screen time for J'onn and for Wonder Woman. Just some excellent stuff, with some nice questions being raised (like, how exactly is Grodd creating his failsafes?), and some great character development. This show keeps getting better and better.
Threshhold: We watched the initial movie and last week's episode, and loved them. So of course it turns out to not be doing that well in the ratings. Why would a fun show starring Carla Gugino ever do well? And why the fuck isn't Karen Sisco out on DVD, anyway? Anyway, the point is, I like this show. It's got some nifty twists on old concepts, and other than Charles Dutton's overacting (whatever happened to the guy from Roc?), everyone's doing a bang-up job.
Simpsons: Fun. Not awesome, but it looks like the season premiere was the fluke. Granted, this was another "Homer/Marge fight" plot, but this one worked a lot better, especially since it twisted so nicely into and out of another storyline. And just seeing Homer use Bart and Lisa to scratch himself was priceless.
Desperate Housewives: Man, I missed this show. Cheesy or not, it's just so well-acted. I was mildly annoyed at aspects of the Terry/Tom storyline (I mean, Tom's back is out, so you take the baby, and leave him with the three brattiest and insane boys on the planet? Shit, the baby was probably the easiest thing he could have dealt with!), but they played things so well, it was hard to care. Just watching Bree wait until 9:00, alone, was worth the time spent watching the show, and her reaction at the funeral was wonderful.
shadesong pointed out the one thing they missed -- Mary Alice should have "stepped down" as narrator, and handed things off to Rex Van de Camp. It would have made for a nice transition. All the characters had some great moments. And yes, I loved the final scene with the Applewhites.
