I already squeed this weekend about Teen Titans. I just loved it. Love me some Doom Patrol. I only wish they'd had The Chief (although Mento makes a suitable asshat/leader). But still, so much fun, and they'll clearly be back. I can only assume that Plasmus and Warp, who we've already seen, will be joining the Brotherhood at some point. Would love to see Madame Rouge, Phobia, and Houngan, maybe Trinity, even.

JLU was just fantastic, for both episodes. Again, we get the overarching plot, with each individual episode still standing alone. And Holy Retro, Batman -- we get The Warlord and The Viking Prince? Love it. Also loved seeing more of Faraday, the first real frontline appearance of Stargirl, and some quality screen time for J'onn and for Wonder Woman. Just some excellent stuff, with some nice questions being raised (like, how exactly is Grodd creating his failsafes?), and some great character development. This show keeps getting better and better.

Threshhold: We watched the initial movie and last week's episode, and loved them. So of course it turns out to not be doing that well in the ratings. Why would a fun show starring Carla Gugino ever do well? And why the fuck isn't Karen Sisco out on DVD, anyway? Anyway, the point is, I like this show. It's got some nifty twists on old concepts, and other than Charles Dutton's overacting (whatever happened to the guy from Roc?), everyone's doing a bang-up job.

Simpsons: Fun. Not awesome, but it looks like the season premiere was the fluke. Granted, this was another "Homer/Marge fight" plot, but this one worked a lot better, especially since it twisted so nicely into and out of another storyline. And just seeing Homer use Bart and Lisa to scratch himself was priceless.

Desperate Housewives: Man, I missed this show. Cheesy or not, it's just so well-acted. I was mildly annoyed at aspects of the Terry/Tom storyline (I mean, Tom's back is out, so you take the baby, and leave him with the three brattiest and insane boys on the planet? Shit, the baby was probably the easiest thing he could have dealt with!), but they played things so well, it was hard to care. Just watching Bree wait until 9:00, alone, was worth the time spent watching the show, and her reaction at the funeral was wonderful. [livejournal.com profile] shadesong pointed out the one thing they missed -- Mary Alice should have "stepped down" as narrator, and handed things off to Rex Van de Camp. It would have made for a nice transition. All the characters had some great moments. And yes, I loved the final scene with the Applewhites.

I'll bet it's because licensing the music would cost a bundle.

I knew the Warlord was coming up and loved seeing him. Also, I absolutely loved the Wally Wood cut scene for the story of the Viking Prince; it worked perfectly.

JLU/Titans

Titans was just good old fashioned fun. I watched it with my 9 year old godson/cousin and he just stared with wide eyed wonder as the Doom Patrol did their thing. He was a very happy litte boy, and so was I (ok, I'm 37, but I was a little boy for 30 minutes). Of course, the wonder ended when he started watching Zatch Bell and my head exploded.

Of course after we put him to bed (he sings in the children's choir at church and had an early service to attend), I did the JLU thing. And I agree with everything you had to say about JLU. I like the fact that Kara is growing up and once again this show is the pinnacle of animated voice casting. Although the image of Brass from CSI as Warlord just makes me laugh.

Yeah, but I just told him its the Elastigirl in the Titans universe. And like most kids he compartmentalizes this stuff. They adjust better to differences in universes than many adults.

As far as Zatch Bell, he's into many of the badly dubbed low level anime that the networks are using to reduce their animation costs. Since most of them are targeted at a boys market, you should be safe. I watched them with him because he wants me too, and since I'm the primary male figure in his life (he's got an absent dad)...you get the picture. But my brain hurts sooooo much afterward, thank goodness for the cleansing power of JLU. :-)

You know what? I'd never even heard of Threshhold until last week when a friend mentioned it and was like, "What's that?" And apparently it's on at Friday at 9, which is Sci-Fi time for me.

I keep squeeing when JLU comes on. Such good stuff! When Lex/Brainiac is on your staff, I don't see how hard it would be to build a failsafe into Metallo. And I'm sure Grod has a telepath somewhere. heh. I can't believe they fought Gamera! And did you notice the Turner-esque Supergirl pose (to go with the costume) in her first appearance?

Oh, and I just love that this Wonder Woman is so not a diplomat.

Well Grodd is a telepath himself. Although not a subtle one.

Great idea

Wow, I hadn't thought about the narrator aspect - that's a brilliant idea, since once again we're dealing with a mysterious death, and Rex could have narrated the journey to finding out about the pharmacist giving him the wrong medicine. Yeah, that would have been cool....

just a thought

any chance you have a "tv filter" or something that i could opt out of? since i don't want to watch any TV or know about tv, i just end up skipping these kids of entries.

how about a "real thoughts from adam about adam and his inner landscape" filter i could opt into instead?

:-D or i could keep skipping...
