The Corpse Bride, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Stop-Motion Necrophilia.

Just came back from seeing The Corpse Bride (which I will no more call Tim Burton's The Corpse Bride than I'll call a 1988 film John Carpenter's They Live, no matter what the credits or IMDB say*).

It was quite fun. Nothing overly spectacular (or overly long -- we were out of there in 90 minutes, counting previews and credits), but it was good cheesy fun. Great voicework (including Jane Horrocks!), some fun jokes, and a lot less dumbed-down than most animated movies. Worth a matinee, at least.

*I also refuse to call Fiona Apple's second album --When the Pawn Hits The Conflict He Thinks Like a King and Then He Hits the Goodies Table and Eats a Cupcake and Wanders Off to go To The Bathroom and Then He Forgets What the Fucking Point of This Title Is -- by its full title, either.

We tried to add the full title of When the Pawn into the MDB once... It didn't fit, we couldn't make the data field wide enough.

I just read an article on Fiona in the new Entertainment Weekly.

I think her new album is called "I'm a flakey bitch who can't decide if the delay in this album is the record company's or my fault but I'm going to keep looking sullen anyway."

I'll probably still buy it.

Fiona hasn't put out a new album because she got side lined trying to do TV shows, including one called, I kid you not, Fiona Plum, where she was a good witch who baby sat three kids.

On a side note, both she and Sheryl Crow look horrible on that cover. In fact, EW has had quite a lot of horrid cover designs recently -- I wonder if they got a new cover editor...

What did you think of the voice work by Helen Carter, Tim Burton's chic he has put in everything since they hooked up?

I liked her work. She's much better than his last wife.

In fact, I was having a conversation with someone today, and they assumed I meant Uwe Boll's The Corpse Bride. To think, so much confusion could have been avoided if I'd only use the proper name!
