ETA: Can you believe that Amazon won't offer free shipping on this? Just because it weighs over 22 pounds? Sheesh.

I hadn't. That's interesting. By itself, and especially if Watterson made the change on his own, I'm not overly bothered, but if there are changes throughout, it would be a bit annoying, to say the least.

I can. Average margin on a book: 50%. Average profit: $75 a book.

Average profit after 37% discount: $19.50.

Cost to ship a 22.4-pound package to Rocky River, OH, not counting packaging and handling costs: $8.74.

Not a whole lot left after that's done, and the amount of space it takes up in the warehouse is probably also a factor.

However, if you're in Amazon Prime, two-day shipping is free. By this point, I'm sure my $75 per year has turned into a good deal for me.

We are in Prime, but they still claim to charge for shipping (I'd put it in my cart just to check).

We've definitely gotten our money's worth out of it.
