Now that's good baseball
Oct. 24th, 2005 08:20 amMan, that was a fun game last night. And former Met Jose Vizcaino briefly was a hero! And then Scott Fucking Podsednik hits a homer off of Brad Lidge? I mean, I hit as many homers during the regular season as Posdenik (seriously).
And no, I'm not counting the 'Stros out. After all, my beloved '86 Mets lost the first two at home agains a 'Sox team, too. Granted, they had the power of Lots of Cocaine driving them, but they also had heart.
Oh, look, by the way: Baseball is upset about the current Got Milk campaign. You know what? If the sport had ever pretended to actually give a shit about steroids, I might have some sympathy for them.
In other sports news, I continue to love my Isles, not just because I'll be an Isles fan until I die, but because they generate headlines like Satan Riding Sudden Hot Streak.

Date: 2005-10-24 12:25 pm (UTC)Not only did the Mets have The Power of the Coke, but they had the Power of the Choke (the Red Sox choke) working for them. I was shocked the Sox won games 1 and 2 that year. I expected them to be swept, because, you know, they were the Sox. Nobody loses more spectacularly than they do. Going for the full series sucked, because it gave us hope.

Date: 2005-10-24 01:10 pm (UTC)I always thought the Sox would eventually fold this year, since they were riding a good wave of luck (ridiculous record in one-run games), but it never happened. Teams get special seasons like this once in a generation (mine was the 1984 Tigers, so I know I'm doomed to never see it again), so for the South Side fans, I hope they finish the deal. And it'd be nice to see a Central team take it, so we can stop hearing about how much our division sucks ass.
