Ganked from Gwynraven:

The Care and Feeding of Introverts.

Not 100% accurate (plenty of introverts think by talking, for example), but still some damned true points, especially regarding how we need -- not want, but need -- recharge time.

I've yet to find a balance between my need for recharge time alone and my need to spend time in the company of people I love.

I think it's important to remember that introvert<---->extrovert is a scale and any person can be anywhere on it, and may indeed move one direction or the other occasionally based on what else is happening in life.

I'm about evenly balanced, myself. I was more introverted before [livejournal.com profile] yendi and I became a couple; I think I became more extroverted simply because one of us had to bbe the liaison to the outside world...

Thanks for the link. Will likely repost it in my journal as well. It does make some very good points - especially how social situations are simply exhausting. A good party night and I'm done for the next day. :)

This would be a lot easier to read if it wasn't so filled with extrovert-bashing that you have to dig to find the one or two actual hints on dealing with introverted people.

Excellent start to understanding introvertism. Now if you could please find an article on left-handed giants with ADD, I would love it.

This is great.

The key here is energy - extraverts get energy from being with people, and introverts get energy from being in their inner world. If they can't be in their inner world, no energy will be forthcoming until they can.

Also, most introverts don't have this distinction - they just think there's something wrong with them (or with everyone else, depending on their level of self-belief).

I think that about 70 - 75% of Western people are extraverts and 25 - 30% are introverts. Not certain.

And some of us need much more alone time to recharge than others. :)

That's an awesome article. I told [livejournal.com profile] gwynraven that I sent that article to my husband back when we were first dating 'cause he's an extrovert from a family of extroverts and so it helped him grok some things about me that he hadn't yet.

Oh, god, that's me!
I wish I'd had this when I was still married. Extrovert hubby that couldn't seem to fathom my need for alone time. Drove us both nuts I think.
Great link! Thanks!

!!WOW!!

(many actors, I've read, are introverts, and many introverts, when socializing, feel like actors),

Dude, I had no idea.

I thought I was the only one (on both counts.)
