1. I read Freakonomics yesterday. Damned fine read. All of you should read it, if you haven't already. Elayna wants to read it, too, after I told her about the cheating Sumo wrestlers and the Chicago teachers who cheated for their kids on standardized tests.

2. As mentioned this weekend, Windswept is auctioning a signed/numbered Alan Moore book. Auction ends in a few hours, so jump on it, folks!

3. Is anyone on my FL going to Balticon? I've got a friend (female) who wants to go, but can't afford the hotel. Anyone seeking an extra roommate?

4. I posted more Amazon DVD sale links this weekend, for those who only read M-F. Fans of Bruce Campbell, Clint Eastwood, and some classic anime will find some good stuff there.

5. My Mets made yet another move, grabbing Paul Lo Duca for Gaby Ferndandez. I'm a bit mixed on that one, but Lo Duca's solid. Now if we can snag Grundzuk Grazdiaka Grodzokiak Susan to play second base, and pull off a nifty pitching deal, I'll be pretty happy.

6. My Jets sucked yet again. *sigh*

I think Billy Wagner = the nifty pitching deal. Now go forth and be happy you have one of the best closers ever.

I read Freakonomics a few months ago - verra interesting. Glad to see you liked it - and I think Elayna might like it too. It kind of made me wish I had enough of a desire/talent in math to explore that realm. I'm glad to see [livejournal.com profile] windswept pointed out the blog - I didn't know there was one.

I would wager he's being just on this side of self-effacing. I can't imagine that someone could blindly stumble their way through economics at his level and not have some discernable knack/love for math.

But me and math? We co-exist in an uneasy truce, occasionally running into one another and casting dirty looks, but never allowing it to escalate into name-calling or blows.

A few weeks ago, the Marlins announced they were looking into relocation. This process will take years. I think they've already found a new place to play, though. Bypassing all MLB rules and regulations, they're relocating to Flushing Meadows, piece... by piece... by piece...

Well, my Steelers lost a huge game, though we still had a chance despite four turnovers to none for the Bengals.

My Pirates are mired in crappiness until new ownership. :(

Mets look to have a pretty exciting club for next year, though second base is still a question mark.
