Just a bit over 48 hours until we head north for Arisia! Woohoo!

Speaking of heading north, the Giants won't be (well, Chicago's actually south, but I need a segue), as they just blew yesterday. Wow. Almost makes me happy to be a Jets fan. I also feel bad for the Bengals.

TV-wise, we caught the next-to-penultimate episode of Teen Titans, which kicked such ass. Yesterday, I caught the latest Simpsons, yet another retread of the Homer/Abe father/song relationship that gets tossed out once every two years.

Finally finished watching High Tension yesterday. The amount of time it took me probably speaks volumes about this incredibly overrated movie that can't tell the difference between homage and fromage, as it were. The opening twenty-five minutes were brilliant (albeit with some utter stupidity mixed in, like a killer who lifts up a mattress instead of just looking under the bed, and a heroine who mixes intelligence with stupidity over and over again) and brutal. The remainder of the movie, although nicely paced, mixes predictability with sheer nonsensicalness. While that's an impressive combination in some ways, it doesn't make for a great film.

Honestly, the best thing you could do would be to rent this and stop it at the thirty-minute mark. You'll get most of the best horror moments, with precious little stupidity.

I really wish teen titans would get a bit deeper, they are giving us some more complexity and tie-ins to other DCU charecters but they haven't ever really gotten in the moral and social questions that make JLU so much better.

i'd just like to say that I was quite psyched when I found out you were coming to Arisia as well. :-)

That said, they did a pretty nice job of moral complexity during the Terra storyline.

I didn't think they did, truthfully. I thought that they made it too black and white, and her too heroic-by-nature. Of course, I miss the psychotic real Terra.
