I'm intrigued by all five of these dishes.

But anything cooked by Abdullah the Butcher would have to be tops on the list of things I want to try, even if it doesn't sound as good as the Luther Burger.

I made my own Luther Burger once.

It was as though a million capillaries cried out in horror, and were suddenly silenced.

That being said, it was also DAMN tasty.

There's a place here in Austin with the exceptionally dorky name of Manny Hattan's, which is forgivable only because it's actually a pretty passable NY-style deli, with good bagels, knishes, latkes, etc. They've got something called the Yankee Stadium, which is only a sandwich in that it's got meat between starchy things, the starchy things in question being a couple of hefty latkes. Between them is about 3/4lb-1lb of corned beef. There may be other meats involved as well.

I've seen someone order one once. It was all I could do to not bolt from the restaurant in horror.

Ahh, wait, I was wrong. I finally found the Manny Hattan's menu (http://mannyhattans.com/sandwiches.html); it turns out that the Yankee Stadium is actually not a sandwich, although it's filed there on the menu; it's a potato knish covered with pastrami and swiss cheese. The thing with the latkes is the Madison Square Garden. There's also the Manny Hattan sandwich itself, which is basically just an excuse to pile a whole bunch of meat onto a plate with some cursory bread.

(Argh, stupid LJ.)

Well, if you're ever in Austin, gimme a shout and we'll all go get lunch. A few times. :)

Brains

I have had a similar dish done with brains, and once you get over the fact of what it is, it is very very nummy.

But then again, I am a carnivore.

Even Carnivores should leave some things alone...

"The idea of eating brains brings to mind one thing: zombie movies."

It should also bring to "mind" Prion-Born Diseases (http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvrd/prions/index.htm) such as MadCow, CJD and others. The prions involved seems to survive the cooking process, although I don't know if they'd survive a strong curry or garam masla.

Don't eat brains unless you know where they come from. Of course, in Kuru, this doesn't help much...

Leave neuro-tissues alone.
