On the one hand, I remain skeptical of any reports suggesting that they've confirmed what Shakespeare looks like, not to mention being able to determine that he died of cancer.

On the other, I give it three days before some yutz takes backwards thinking to the logical extreme and suggests that it was actually Marlowe who died of cancer.

Worse yet: Phillip Marlowe wrote the plays. After travelling back in time, with cancer.

Let us not leave Francis Bacon out...I'm sure he wants to have died of cancer with the rest of the anti-stratfordian demi-gods.

These "portraits" of Shakespeare are really pictures of Elizabeth I, disguised as a man, because as we all know, she really wrote the plays attributed to Shakespeare.

(I have a colleague who believes this. Seriously. She's otherwise highly intelligent, but I guess all gifted people are allowed one wacky theory. )

Thank you for bringing this highly important and scholarly piece of information to my attention, especially the part where the current princes of England are directly descended from Shakespeare. ::giggle:: I've forwarded this along to the rest of my Shakespeare geeky gradstudent peoples.
