Here's former Republican Congressman (who had a 95% rating from the American Conservative Union when he left office and signed the Contract on America) reacting to the NRA's appalling new ad, in case anyone thinks this organization in any way represents anything close to sensible ideas (note that Joe's cohost Mika Brzezinski is a liberal, so this is one person appalled by their own theoretical allies, not two):

Eh. I see nothing wrong with calling Obama a hypocritical elitist, when that's exactly what he is. Nor is it somehow beyond the pale to point out that he makes sure _his_ kids gets armed protection 24 hours a day while decrying the idea of armed guards in _your_ child's school as ridiculous. If that shows "disrespect" as I've heard some folks say, well, that's just sauce for the goose. His lack of respect for gun owners ("bitter clingers," remember?) is well documented.
