Thursday stuff: Veronica Mars, KOL, Elayna's birthday, etc

Veronica Mars: Well, Kristin Cavalleri was actually worse than I expected, but the show was still good.

I love the continued Logan plotline, and the fact that he's working without Veronica, and with only Weevil as his occasional ally. And I loved the look on Veronica's face when she realized who Logan's new girlfriend was. I'm still not sure how honest Logan is about his relationship with Hannah -- I'd bet good money he's lying about not knowing who she was at the carnival, but he likes the thin, sassy blondes, so he could still be serious about her (even as he's using her).

As far as the bus mystery goes, at this stage, things are pretty clearly set to implicate Woody (I'm treating Terrence as innocent for now). If the detonators in the garage weren't planted, Woody and Terrence are the only two who might have had them. But I suspect that they'll swerve things at least one or two times between now and the end of the season.


KOL: I've killed the Sorceress, but I'm not ascending yet. I'm going to work up to level 13 to perm the cold-resist skill. I know it's only minor protection, but it'll be nice to have, and it stacks with items and spheres. And since I farm the Peak heavily, it's one less thing to worry about.

I've been spending some serious time building income this run, playing the mall (selling snowcones, taking advantage of the bizarre run on blundarrrbusses yesterday, etc), and farming the Peak, and my bankroll has gone from about 900K to 1.65 million Meat over the last few weeks. Of course, if I wanted to sell my petrified time, I could more than double that.

I've also started hanging around in KOL chat a little bit (mainly the games channel, where I've managed to win a few contests -- a tomato daiquiri being the biggest prize I've scored so far). The quality of the games can vary, but there's some fun stuff there (I just won 10K for knowing my Jack Nicholson flicks).

Elayna's birthday: We let her use some of her birthday money at Waldenbooks, where she grabbed two volumes of Cardcaptor Sakura. After taking her to dinner (at Mama Fu's), we then spent time watching the biggest of the presents we got her: The Complete Fruits Basket. :-)

Yeah, our girl's eleven. Only 364 more days until we have to gripe about her being twelve too soon.

So I still haven't beat the Sorceress yet. I've gone up against her 5 or 6 times in the last couple of days, but all the pixel potions or other things that I buy to try to bring me back from the brink get wasted by her distractions. I've killed the first form and been able to get probably half-way through the second form.

Aggravating.

What equipment/familiar are you using? With a sauceror, I'd go with the furry suit, a kickback cookbook, and the lowest level attack spell.

Lately I've been trying with Star Hat, Nagamar, Cookbook, Hippo Pants, Badass belt, extreme nose ring, enchanted toothpick and a 22 pound pickle on a stick.

Do you have a Ghost Pickle? That's my favorite familiar for the Sorceress. But yeah -- what yendi said totally works for Saucerors, as I just ascended one via a similar tactic.

I've also found that alternating attacks rather than using one over and over is more effective. For example, open with a wussiness potion try, then go for your second-level spell (saucestorm, I think, is very effective, and I never ran out of MP with a 12th level Sauceror), and alternate between this, attack items (I particularly advocate plot holes here), and healing items.

I recently got back into KoL -- I had gotten bored with it pre-ascension, went back and ascended a character (DB) after it was released, then mostly ignored it again, but I'm really enjoying the post-ascension content so far.
