1. Yes, I'm wearing green. No, you can't see it, unless I drop trou (it's the Homer Simpson Barney's Bowl-a-Rama boxers).

2. Even though I don't have Liver of Steel, I still managed to get to 26 drunkenness and get my traffic cone adventure in KOL today. I spent my real adventures farming the peak, and I'm just shy of two million now.

3. FInished another book yesterday -- Star Trek Voyager: The Nanotech War. Yeah, I know it's Voyager, but aside from the fact that it's an underrated universe (that show had one of the better groups of characters and a nifty concept, marred by some bad choices and scripts), my policy on Trek books, in general, is to buy ones by authors I like outside of Trek. And, while that normally means reading mostly Peter David and

kradical Trek books, I do pick up ones by folks like John Ford, Melissa Scott, and Steven Piziks when they play in that sandbox.

4. Am currently reading The Vanished, by Bill Pronzini. The Nameless Detective novels seem to be the most successful series ever that no one has heard of. Pronzini is from the old school of detective writers, writing hard-boiled post-Hammett/Chandler stuff that, like his predecessors, aspires to true literary quality. We need more authors like him. Go click on that link, choose "read an excerpt," and see just how damned good those first two pages are.

5. Our current military operation is "Operation Swarmer." Can I assume they'll follow it up with Operation Lander, Operation Baiter, and Operation Bomber? And if there's some collateral damage, maybe Operation Mutant?

6. Finally, Six Apart, makers of various blog software (including LJ), is moving into new blog markets. The interesting part of the article, though, is, "LiveJournal, a Web site publishing community popular with teenage girls."
