When scammers attack.
May. 24th, 2006 12:10 pmAbsolute Write has just lost its virtual home.
The quick and dirt summary, for those who don't want to expend any energy clicking through to read
tnh's post: A scam artist named Barbara Bauer got upset that she was listed on various sites (including Absolute Write), and filed a scamalicious DMCA complaint. Fortunately for the scammer (an unfortunately for anyone with any combination of common sense or decency), the person at the hosting company turned out to be an "author" with PublishAmerica (which is to publishing what Barbara Bauer is to agenting, if "agenting" were a real gerund), and is therefore stupid enough to do what any scam artist tells her.
So, now a good site is looking for a new home (although there seems to be some hope in the comments section of the above post).
