I have this on VHS along with about 40 other music videos my dad recorded off of VH1 and MTV (you know, back when they actually played music). I LOVE this video. :)

Another great one is the Dire Straits video for "Walk of Life" which has some great football bloopers. :)

That's the one! I love that song and the video. :) That VHS tape of 80's videos is the reason I still have a functioning VCR. I dread the day the tape finally gives up the ghost.

Ever see the video for "Brothers In Arms"? Yes, there was one; I saw it on videotape, as it seems to have gotten little or no airplay.

For those who never saw it, it was rendered entirely in the same pencil-sketch way that a-ha's "Take On Me" used, including some epic moments like flying up ocean cliffs to see Mark Knopfler playing guitar on top. Oy; I can recall it twenty years on. Lovely stuff.

I had never seen this before! The "Take On Me" video is one on my VHS of 80's videos (one of my all time favorites) so this is awesome. Thanks for the heads up!

And we shall thank the splendiferous [livejournal.com profile] yendi for the finding of it (he got mad search skilz, y0), and the Great And Powerful Internet for preserving it, and for Dire Straits and company for conceiving the thing in the first place...

It this why the Red Sox and Patriots lost in 86?
We didn't have cheezy videos?
And how did the Celtics manage to win?

Could be. It could also be because the Patriots sucked and the Red Sox still hadn't shaken off the curse. (It was real! It had to be!) (I should point out I still loved the Patriots, even through the years of mega-suck--and there were a lot of them!)

The Celtics won because they had a line up of solid players: Bird, Parrish, McHale, Ainge, and Dennis Johnson. It wasn't just one guy hogging the ball and being all "hey, I'm Mister Superstar!" You get more done when you work together. Or possibly they performed ritual sacrifices in the locker room. Who can say?

I think the Houston Rockets not having a catchy little tune may have been a factor.
