Howdy from Florida

A few notes:

1. Flight went smoothly, and the Ft. Lauderdale airport is possibly the only airport left that gives you free wi-fi instead of charging the $68/hour that one encounters at the airports in Atlanta, Boston, and San Diego. So waiting for shadesong's dad to pick us up was not of the bad.

2. God, it's amazing how even three weeks without Elayna seems like an eternity. I missed her so damned much. I don't think she's any taller, but she's definitely tanner. And nothing beats hugging her.

3. We went out to a damned nice Italian dinner last night. Ate squid. Yum.

4. I managed to ruin a pair of shorts by somehow encountering grease or motor oil. I can't for the life of me figure out how or where. A trip to Target this morning (where I found some pairs for $5 a pop) took care of that.

5. I find the World Cup exactly as interesting as I always have. Alas, a set of the cousins here thinks it's as exciting as, well, other sporting events.

6. I somehow missed the memo about there being a release of DROD for the Mac. I now have it on my laptop.

7. Tomorrow is Father's Day. I honestly have no idea what Elayna got me. When I asked her if it was an elephant, she said that it wasn't, but that it might contain one. I'm assuming it's not a Parcheesi set (we already have one), or a box of animal crackers.

8. I only discovered today the cookbook I need to own: Everything Tastes Better With Bacon. As the review at Amazon notes, bacon is, indeed, the fifth food group.

9. I'm not really reading LJ very much, in spite of 'song's dad having a wireless connection. Email me if you think I need to know something.

10. I did burn through my turns in KOL, of course. Two days in, I'm about halfway though level 8 (and will finish the L8 quest as soon as I can get to Hangk's tomorrow).

We have that book. Cost $4 new at Half Price Books, if I recall correctly. It's got recipes for bacon on ice cream. :)

Back when Jeremy's Microbatch Ice Cream still had a website, I kept meaning to order their bacon ice cream. I'll definitely have to try making my own. :-)

PDX is still free, and seeing as how Portland is the home to the Personal Telco Project for free wifi I don't see how they'd ever be able to get away with charging for access there

But this only helps if you are going to Oregon really.
