Other Friday things

1. Our internet connection at home is hosed. Completely fucking hosed. Happened sometime overnight, and the usual fixes (various combinations of unplugging the router and modem) didn't do shit. So I'll be spending some serious time on the phone with BellSuck tonight.

2. KOL: I completely dropped the ball when I ascended yesterday. I'd meant to ascend as a boozefarian, but clicked "teetotaler" instead. And didn't realize it until I'd done my pulls, set up a bartender, and made a TPS drink. Sigh. Fortunately, I did have enough pulls to grab three chows from Hangk's, but I'm now fresh out. At least I've got access to Chez Snootee if I need it. Fortunately, an Ice Sickle and the MCD on 11 make up for a lot of mistakes.

3. Last night, we had a visit from the lovely irana, and we introduced her to the joy that is Veronica Mars. She's now seen the first three episodes, and I think it's safe to say that she's hooked. :-)

4. Go watch this amazingly nifty Flash presentation on string theory, other dimensions, and parallel universes. Damned fascinating to this sci-fi fan. Also, a good indicator of why Dan Didio's mission to wipe hypertime and multiple universes from DC continuity is a bad idea (well, one of many, many reasons it's a bad idea).

5. Our long national nightmare is over! Of course, the announcement is about as wishy-washy as they get ("And I'm not certain we'll ever make a record again, unless it becomes really obvious to me that we need to do one."), but for now, I'll be an optimist and take the statement on face value.

I'd considered that, and if I hadn't already wasted a bartender, I might, but as it is, I'd rather see what I can do with it. I finished Day 2 only 70 substat points from level 8 (and have actually duplicated by Big Boss Trophy efforts, as I've completed all the quests to this point without every turning down the MCD), so I figure I'm fine.

Quick question, what are the benefits/negatives for using the MCD?

It adds +x to the monster level (with x being whatever you set the device to). On the one hand, this makes the monsters harder to kill and capable of doing more damage. On the other hand, this makes them worth more, experience-wise.
