Eureka!

So, we caught the two-hour premiere of Eureka on Sci-Fi last night, and quite liked it. It's a sci-fi take on the typical "quirky small town" concept, with some nifty characters. The talent's solid enough -- including Salli Richardson (Eliza from Gargoyles!), Matt Frewer, Greg Germann (just for the pilot, I believe), and the ludicrously hot Erica Cerra as a police officer. And hey -- Joe Morton as a mad scientist. What a stretch! The first episode was pretty much just about introducing the concept and plotlines, but it did a nice job of setting things up.

We've added it as a season pass; here's hoping it's worth sticking with.

I really liked that show last night. It's interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of it. So I'll be watching telly on Tuesday and Friday now.

I thought the writing was pretty uniformly weak, though it got shored up by some decent to good acting. But no love for Maury Chaykin, or is that just because the IMDB information isn't up to date?

Oh, I adored Chaykin (always do), but the opening credits implied that he was a one-shot guest star.

It's Sci-Fi! They've never had a show they couldn't repeat endlessly.
