As most of you know, I am not Christian, nor was I raised as such. Nor did I attend any Christian funerals while growing up (or ever, actually).

Which is why, when I first saw one enacted on TV, I was outraged. Because, dammit, they were ripping off Peanuts!

Took me years to accept that Linus hadn't come up with the quote first.

I think that particular bit has gone out of favor; I haven't heard it at the last several committals (generally, you don't hear it at the funeral proper, just at the graveside service) I've attended.
