No fucking way is that the "best French toast in Los Angeles."

Hell, it's not even the 2342nd best French toast in LA.

Because what you showed was a slice of (likely untoasted, actually, given the lack of any sort of color shift) whole wheat bread. With no sign of egg, and a light powdering of sugar. Which means, basically, that it wasn't French toast at all.

First, the best French toast is made with challah. If you must make it with another bread, white bread, French bread, baguettes, and other styles work. Whole wheat is about dead last on the list of breads to use.

Second, it's cooked.

Third, you use motherfucking eggs! Otherwise, it's toast.

Great show. Lousy prop manager.

Portuguese sweetbread also makes A1 quality French toast. If you can find it.
Challah also rocks. Haven't had it since my wife stopped working at the Jewish pre-school...must go find...

This is what the best french toast is made of:
Semifreddi's cinnamon twist (http://www.eastbayexpress.com/bestof/award.php?oid=oid:18427&section=oid:17197&year=2002)

It's french toast porn.

I just use the cinnamon bread from the little bakery downtown, eggs and milk and a little bit of sugar for the binding and then fry it in a buttered griddle. Best ever.

I'll refrain from telling you about the horrible miscegenations I've perpetrated in the name of vegan french toast.

Challah is of course the best. That challah cinnamon sound delsih. Cinammon bread works very well.

Here's another suggestion if challah is out that you'd not consider, but my lord it works amazingly well. (remember I have a culinary degree!)

Corn bread!
