1. Saturday, aside from being Blogathon, was also Alton Brown Day! Caught the Good Eats: Behind the Eats special, followed by Feasting on Asphalt. I adored the former (if only because we finally find out about the woman who plays "W,"), and like the latter okay. It's not bad, but Alton still seems to be finding his road legs, as it were. I also have issues with a culinary road trip across the USA that doesn't have the Mid-Atlantic or New England on the plan.

2. [livejournal.com profile] shadesong has a nice Blogathon FAQ , which not only answers a bunch of questions about her participation, but notes that you can still sponsor [livejournal.com profile] shadesong (or [livejournal.com profile] slipjig, [livejournal.com profile] aurora_lamour, [livejournal.com profile] zarhooie, [livejournal.com profile] boutell, or [livejournal.com profile] shadowwolf13). At risk of saying the obvious, just because blogathon itself ends its fundraiding period tomorrow doesn't mean you can't continue to support those very good causes throughout the year, either.

3. KOL update: Finished day four of my run a handful of myst substats away from level 10.

4. On Friday, we hit Decatur and visited Jake's, where I tried yet another yummy flavor: Betwixt. It was caramel ice cream with huge pieces of Twix bars in it. Yum. 'song had Honey Fig - Black Mission and Celeste figs soaked in cabernet sauvignon and honey, in honey ice cream. The fact that there's only one remaining Jake's is a shame.

5. Today is the non-waiver trade deadline in baseball! The Mets are supposedly still targeting some pitching (although I wouldn't mind if they just acknowledged that they've got good stuff in Pelfrey and Maine, and focused on fixing whatever the fuck is wrong with Glavine). There've been a couple of big trades (Yanks for Abreu, Belliard to the Cards, Aybar and Baez to the Braves), but I'm assuming there'll be a few more.

This may be an odd question, but do you call 'song, 'song, in real life, or do you call her by her given name? Is Shadesong a real life nickname, too?

I am so there. (And if I walk from my house, I'll even deserve it!)

can you explain the diff between jakes and muriel and sebastians? i don't see a difference, and i am a regular patron of muriel and sebastians @ Clairmont & North Decatur (due to the fact that they are open later than ANY other place at that corner because the coffeeshop is a wuss and closes at 10 -- wtf is with that)

it did used to be a jakes, and i think they might still serve Jake's ice cream since it is still homemade and still changes regularly.
