The amazing thing about that huge gap in Cynthia McKinney's loss last night?

Because of the way in which GA elections work (allowing anyone to vote in either primary, but then only allowing folks to vote in the runoff for the same party they voted for in a primary), and because a huge number of liberals who can't stand her (like me) voted in the Republican primary with the express intent of keeping that son of a bitch Ralph Reed off the November ballot, I suspect that the gap might be smaller than it would have been otherwise.

Personally, I feel no small amount of schadenfreude over her loss (maybe she could co-write a movie with Mel Gibson about being screwed over by "the Jews?"), but I still hold Denise Majette responsible for the fact that this election was even necessary. Won't stop me from voting for her for School Superintendent, of course (anyone but Kathy "evolution is a negative buzzword" Cox, please), but she should never have abandoned her House position after one term.

More people voted in the 4th District runoff than voted in the original election, which is really amazing to me.

I'm glad that son of a bitch Lieberman lost as well.

And I, too, am still angry at Denise Majette.

I agree - she was BACK because Majette had this weird notion of winning the senate.

And Ralph Reed was friggen scary - even for a Georgian politician. I don't like "the BIG GuY" either, but the alternative is 4 more years of cement head "Sonny" - damned, the choices just suck.

The real story is supposedly that Majette got freaked out by Washington and its ways and wanted to come home..and she did the Senate run because it looked a lot more honorable than simply quitting after one term...

I always got the feeling that Majette was pushed into the Senate race by the Democratic party, because she was the biggest Name they could come up with.

I almost hope McKinney wins the seat again in 2008... and then loses in 2010... and then wins again in 2012, ad nauseum.

there's prob more than a few Repub Party folk who'd love to see that happen...she's more useful as a punching bag when she holds office..
