Seriously, dude. Good luck. And you're probably lucky in one way, which is that Elayna sounds like the kind of kid who'll actually tell you how her school day went, and not just say she did "nothing."
You've done a lot for your young one. She'll do allright.
Heh. Maybe. She won't hide or clam up, but she does tend to remember the most recent stuff best. When she did aftercare, she'd often never have any stories of school itself.
Me: How was school? The Boy: Good. (Translation: A kid tripped me in the hall, I got a solo in chorus, I forgot to take my notebook to class so I haven't written down any homework today, my best friend is in the hospital, and I sat in a girl's lap.) Me: How are you doing in math? The Boy: Good. (Translation: Still failing.) Me: Is your English Honors class going okay? The Boy: Yeah, it's good. (Translation: I didn't turn in my homework again, but the teacher complimented my writing in front of the class.) Me: And how's the wolverine pit where they throw naughty students? The Boy: Good. (Translation: I haven't been listening to a thing you said because I'm still thinking about sitting in that girl's lap. Please go away, Parental Unit.)
