yendi1. Everything I have to say about Talk Like a Pirate Day can be summed up in this post from three years ago.
2. That said, I do like the new item introduced over in KOL for the day. Fortunately, I'm at just the point in my HC run (level eight) to actually get a few of them.

shadesong and I watched Brick last night, and I quite enjoyed it. I do feel it fell a tad short, choosing to go for pastiche when, with not much more effort, they could have accomplished a genuine noir, but it's still a fun movie, Once you get past the cast's 90210 syndrome (most of them are too old to play college students, let alone high schoolers), there are some really good performances and damned witty dialogue.
4. The Mets clinched! Yay! Of course, since the Wild Card format began, as ESPN noted this morning, only one team that cliched their division first (the 1998 Yankees) went on to win the World Series. And I harbor no illusions that the Mets are in a great position. But this was the necessary first step.
