Notes from Boston
Oct. 7th, 2006 04:55 pmI'm writing from
mgrasso's place right now. We spent the day looking at houses, and tomorrow, I'm heading back to the really nifty one we found in Watertown and putting down a deposit!
Yay!
We're going to have a real wood-burning fireplace. And skylights. And hardwood floors. And new appliances (including washer and dryer). And central heat. And a short walk to the commuter rail. And lots of other stuff.
Oh, and I got bumped by Delta on my way up here, so my ticket (which was already free, thanks to Skymiles) has earned me another two free tickets.
So it's been a pretty decent weekend. :-)
Hey,
jmspencer -- you working tomorrow? After dropping off the deposit, I might head over your way.

Date: 2006-10-07 09:05 pm (UTC)(I visited Boston in summer '98 and rode with an acquaintance of mine who's Catholic. She introduced me to the blessing-of-St. Christopher-thing of kissing your fingers and pressing them to the windshield when you go through a yellow light. Drivers go through many yellow lights in Boston. They have to.)
washer and drier
Which will then be "washer and driest"! (In other words, I think you mean "dryer.")
Seriously, best o' the good luck with the move. You guys have been banking good vibes.

Date: 2006-10-07 09:17 pm (UTC)Which I find quite funny, as I used to work with and play in a band with a guy named Chris Walsh from Waltham, and everytime I see one of your posts, I associate it with him.

Date: 2006-10-07 09:21 pm (UTC)(I actually did visit Waltham, too; that's where the acquaintance lived. Why I was there is a sad story I won't go into here, but I'm glad I went. I found Boston a very comfortable, welcoming place. I hope the Gojirawitzes do, too.)
Signed,
The other Chris Walsh

Date: 2006-10-08 01:21 am (UTC)Arlington would have been nice, too. Just not Newton, as viewed from my perspective of being a non-driver.
