I'm off to teach for the next couple of hours, but I had to post some good TV news, per [livejournal.com profile] laurel's always nifty TV Picks:

1. Jericho, a show that was an early lead in the "Brilliant but Cancelled" Dead Pool, has been picked up for a full season! Rock fucking on!

2. Medium will return in November! Of course, it'll air at 9PM on Wednesdays, which means that no one will watch it (unless Lost is in reruns), but at least it's back.

Well, it airs at 9pm central time on Wednesdays so it's not up against Lost, but up against The Nine and CSI: NY. Though apparently a zillion people watch CSI: NY (based on how poorly Kidnapped did in that slot).

(Thanks for the link/mention).

And LOST seems to be getting some serious competition from Criminal Minds and Mandy Patinkin. Only 200,000 viewers difference between them last I heard. (I suspect LOST is leaking viewers who are tired of the all-questions, no-answers thing.)

Yep, that's why I gave up on Lost. I was tired of 45 minutes of filler and 3 minutes of advancing plot.

Criminal Minds is a seriously awesome show. We happened to catch it one night because we couldn't be arsed to turn off the TV after Jericho.

What's Jericho about again?

A small town cut off from the world after a nuclear bomb goes off nearby. (That's all I know; I haven't seen it yet.)

Apparently, there are more complex things going on than just post-nuclear survival. I've been taping the episodes, but haven't had a chance to watch any of them yet. My wife has, and speaks very highly of the large number of intriguing subplots and developments.

Cool. I knew I'd sound boring (even Moby Dick sounds boring and ridiculous if you sum it up in a sentence), but I couldn't resist chiming in.

I do have a thing for End Of The World As We Know It stories (I just read World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War). I should try this show, now that I have actual TV access again...

WOOHOO! Both these things are good news.

I never got into Lost at the beginning, because the premise just didn't seem all that hot. I've seen trailers, and snippets of episodes here and there, but I get the feeling that it's one of those "all or nothing" things in terms of which episodes you need to watch to understand it.
