That's the slogan for Wordie, a social networking site built around the sharing of vocab words.

Seriously.

I have no idea if there's any real value to the site, but I've joined (as "yendi"). Only work I've added is "defenestrate," as it's the greatest word ever.

I <3 the word "defenestrate". It is the greatest!

I used it in a sentence at lunch the other day. In response to the cranky toddler. My friend had no idea what it meant, so I explained.

I like it too, though it "feels" more ablative than dative or perlative in nature, and I have a vague notion that "exfenestrate" conveys certainly the perlative nature more properly.

I disagree - enucleation is the greatest word ever.

A friend of mine once had listed in their lease agreement "No defenestration allowed", along with a maximum number for various farm animal, "no more than 6 chickens", etc... The apartment was in the middle of a small city and in a nice area... it was weird.

Arachibutyrophobia - the morbid fear of having peanut butter cling to the roof of your mouth. Where there is a need, the word arises...

I figured you'd probably already seen it, but just in case. :)

It is a great word, definitely.

One thing I wonder though is...

If you can "defenestrate", then it would seem logical that it's also possible to "fenestrate", and if so, what would that involve exactly?

From my Bio class I remember that fenestrations are openings, for example in the skull, so "to fenestrate" is to create an opening...which I guess is what breaking and entering is, actually.

I suppose a brobdignagian curmudgeon might defenestrate an exanimate okapi with a rapacious pendular recursion of his cordovan portmanteau.
