A few days ago, I mentioned that I'd decided to undertake a Project for 2007. One that's somewhat insane.

Here it is:

Each weekday in 2007, I will post a new horror movie review.

That's 261 reviews.

Why am I doing this?

1. Because I'm insane.

2. Because I realized that I haven't written anything resembling actual content in ages. I'm not sure I've posted anything significant since I did my Nightmare on Elm Street reviews last March.

A few notes on how I'll be going about this:

First, I won't be revisiting any movies I've already written extensively about. No Friday the 13th, Halloween, or Nightmare on Elm Street. Or Van Helsing.

Second, I'll be using movies from every subgenre, but availability is a major factor here. Films that I can Tivo or watch from my DVD collection has priority. That likely means that modern stuff (which airs more often on cable) will be overpresented. I also won't watch any edited-for-tv editions of any movies.

Third, there will be spoilers in many of these reviews (just like there were with my other reviews).

Fourth, I won't take requests. I'm committing myself to watching and writing about 261 films this year (and yes, I'm watching each film within a week of posting a review, even if it's one I've seen before), and I do want some control of my sanity.

The first review will go up at around noon today.

This week's reviews include two movies based on videogames, two foreign films (from Japan and Australia), four from this decade, and one from the '80s. There will be zombies, aliens, cannibals, bad cgi, and other scary things.

Happy 2007, everybody!

Awesome.

Then, at the end of the year, you can publish 'em all as a book through Lulu, sell it through your blog, and get obscenely rich.

Yes! Yes! Yes! *dances all over the room* And at the end of the year, YOU ARE GOING TO SEND THEM TO A PUBLISHER, yes? Because if you don't, we will all collectively come to your home and poke you mercilessly.

Cool plan!

Now, dude:

Do this on a site of your own, not on LJ. Post pointers on LJ as the reviews come out.

It will get indexed, people will find it when searching for the movies, and you can quite legitimately make some extra bucks running Google Adsense on that with no effort whatsoever.

Can I just say, "FINALLY!" Seriously, I was beginning to think you were working for Amazon. Also, my wishlist was growing at an alarming rate and the sheets weren't as nice as I'd hoped.

Not requests, more like recommendations :)

http://www.frightfest.co.uk/frightfest2006fi.html and look at the individual days - very little rubbish and some very good stuff.

Behind the Mask was my second favourite - working both as a very funny analysis of the slasher genre and as a slasher itself.

Some of the UK 'no budget' films were also very good.
