I just completed my first 13-day Hardcore run! Woohoo! Previous best was a 17-day run as a Turtle Tamer.

This run was as an Accordion Thief. I'm shocked at how easy it was.

I did require three chances to beat the NS. First two (using the standard lower moxie method) failed when the second battle went past fifty rounds (my NPZR kept me alive, but didn't do enough attacking).

I finally won when I switched to a Star Hat, Torn-up Glove, MP-adding accessories, and relied on Moxious Maneuver.

Now, the fun begins. I'm seriously contemplating re-ascending as an HCO Disco Bandit, then working my way through the other HCO classes.

I usually just throw things at her when I'm a moxie class. Expensive, but works fairly consistently. I don't really like trying the low moxie method when running a class that prioritizes on moxie. I'll have to try your Moxious strategy sometime...

I'm starting my HCO runs currently (feeling a desire to have a Plexi set). Doing the semi-standard SC-TT-DB-AT-PM-S path, I think. We'll see if I finish that within the calendar year...it seems just soooooo slow right now. I keep thinking I should be almost ready to ascend again and I'm just starting to look at the Deep Fat Friar's quest.

I haven't done any HC runs... I'm going through normal runs at the moment. Just finished my first DB run, trying TT now (200 more turns til I get out of Ronin... I hate Ronin...).

I took down the NS first try with the DB by continually facestabbing while my MAS kept attacking. Then, once I was out of MP, I threw two Cloaca-Cola grenades and it finished her.

I just started my fourth hardcore run. Seal Clubber this time (did pasta, sauce, and disco prior). HC is taking me long enough that any HCO runs will be in the very distant future unless time necessitates self-imposed procrastination limits. Part of my problem is I hang around for about the length of time it took me pre - NS battle post freeing the king just so I have a chance to meat farm and stuff like that with all of my items accessible.

Congratulations! I've only done one HC run so far (pasta, 1600ish turns in 16 days), vs. 27 soft, though I am planning on doing HC sauceror and seal clubber back to back starting in a week or so (I'd like to get a couple more HC skills permed before NS13, and I crave delicious stainless steel).

I will probably suck it up and try HCO at some point, because most of the plexiglass gear is intensely arousing (esp. the pants and pith helmet) but I want to have the familiar boosting skills and Pulverize hardcore-permanent before I even think about it.

So far, at least, there is only so much hardcore I can take at a time. I mean, 2 back to back runs this time is going to be a full month of at most one day (after king-freeing, before ascending) of fiddling with my sweet, sweet ancestral inventory.

There is a weird kind of dichotomy in the game between softcore and hardcore in terms of what the real game is, and at least for right now, hardcore is something I may do in between soft runs. And, really, the attraction of stainless steel (and eventually plexiglass) is being able to use it in softcore.

Still, my next 5 hardcore runs are each going to be worth 2 tattoos (number and class), and that is gonna be great for my collector's number. Plus, HC is a refreshing break from fast runs (and, as you note, takes less of your time except on the bleeding edge).
