While watching Slings and Arrows last night, I had the most horrifying concept for a take on King Lear:

The Powerpuff Lear. With The Professor as Lear, Blossom as Goneril, Buttercup as Regan, and Bubbles as Cordelia. It works horrifyingly well until faced with the necessity of Mojo Jojo as Cornwall.

It would still be better than that fucking Mr. Magoo Christmas Carol.

ETA: Yes, I suppose that it would work better with Ace as Cornwall, but I can't see any PPG event not using their primary villain.

But...but I love Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol. I watched it every year when I was tiny.

Yes! Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol was an icon of my childhood!

In fact, it was the first version of the story I saw, and for several years I was convinced that all other versions were ripping off Mr. Magoo. :)

Mojo Jojo? I think not. Cornwall would be played by HIM.

Shouldn't the Mayor be Lear? :)

Yeah, the professor doesn't have any facial hair for them to pluck out...

I understand Kevin Kline is playing King Lear right now in New York. From the review I read, I'm guessing yours would be much better.

I am all for Shakespearian retellings.

If you want a laugh and have the opportunity, ask Tablesaw about Titus PulpFicticus . Great things are created during college runs of 'The Cmplt Wrks...'- scary, but great.

(here from Metaquotes)

"How now, at this precise moment, my young friend and companion of tender years who I am speaking to at this time? Since I came hither and arrived at this place, which I have but recently come to, I have heard strange news which I have been made aware of, on account of it was a recent event..."

(Writing Mojo Jojo and making him sound period is hard - but it's fun to try...)
