1. Man, I've got a lot of open Firefox tabs.

2. Mets are 2-0! WIth seven double plays so far this year. 'Course, I wouldn't mind seeing them show a wee bit of power, as well.

3. Lots of information on the assorted breakdowns in the pet food recall situation.

4. It's web 2.1! Of course, the company doing all this bragging doesn't actually have a product to show yet. But hey, their press release says they'll kick ass, so who am I to disagree?

5. Bloomsbury is looking to create the "MySpace of the books world." Which will presumably be different from Shelfari, LibraryThing, GoodReads, and Revish. And besides, when you think of MySpace, don't you just immediately think of literate, well-read folks?

6. I'm late to this party, but the Alanis Morisette video/cover of "My Humps" just kicks ass. And I'm not even an Alanis fan (other than for her fine work as God in Dogma).

7. A web 2.0 site where teens and tweens can design and share clothing styles. I don't doubt that Elayna will get hooked on it.

8. Looks like the Mozilla folks are also moving into the Web 2.0/social networking arena.

9. Google Desktop is finally available for the Mac! Yay!

On when used in something like the phrase " literate, well-read folk avoid myspace like a saloon girl at a church social"

How many tabs? Cause I bet [livejournal.com profile] we_happy_few has got you beat. His plaintive wails of "why is Firefox crashing again?" meet with no sympathy from me.

Sure. Maybe not first, but not that far down the list: Music, people I went to high school with, people I work with, and, finally, well read folks, most of whom are also on LJ, many from TH. Some of the others are also fairly well read.

I guess it all depends on what you're using MySpace for and who you associate with over there.

I often open a second window because I have some many tabs open in my first window I can't see them all

the only problem with it is if it crashes and you bring it back up when it asks you if you want to restore your tabs it only restores one screen worth

OK, I have to ask, because I can't find a solid answer: is that REALLY Alanis? Because, my God, it sure sounds like her, and mad props to her for doing something that crazy, but I mean -- if you were Alanis, would you spend any amount of time and effort covering that song? Other than for a huge joke, what's the payoff?

I know many disagree, but I too was content with her casting in Dogma, because it makes perfect sense to me that listening to her voice would make a person's (angel's, whatever) head explode. I honestly find her voice almost entirely intolerable, and even though the video was amusing, I couldn't stand it for more than a minute or so.

On a more positive note, finished In the Company of Ogres, which you recently reviewed. Fun book that went in a lot of places I didn't expect.
