Alice in Sunderland
Apr. 5th, 2007 08:44 amThis is what I get for skipping the Dark Horse section in Previews (usually a safe bet, since they haven't had a non-Usagi monthly I've cared about in ages*, and I trust that I'll hear about any new Grendel stuff over the grapevine). Turns out that Brian Talbot has a new book called Alice in Sunderland (thanks to
sbisson for mentioning it). One of the true visionaries in comics writing a book about Lewis Carroll and Alice Liddell? Oh, I am so there.
*And yes, I don't doubt it was mentioned on places like Newsarama, but I try to spend as little time there as possible. And I'm sure that it was mentioned somewhere in Neil Gaiman's journal, but I only get around to reading it every other week or so.

Date: 2007-04-05 01:12 pm (UTC)smugimportanthumble this makes me feel...Also I proofread the book a couple of times, and did a sort of line-edit job on it here and there. There is value, eventually, to being a pedant...

Date: 2007-04-05 05:26 pm (UTC)Skipping Dark Horse in Previews is a big mistake. The Playboy Interview Collections, various amazing graphic novels such as Blessed Thistle (http://www.darkhorse.com/profile/profile.php?sku=13-983)... dude, this book is right up your alley, brilliantly themed horror/thriller which will need repeat readings to be "ah...wow!"
and the extremely well priced limited edition Jimbo vinyl fiigure:

among other stuff...
oh and well, Alice in Sunderland or anything else Bryan does. They're the exclusive American publishers for him I believe.
and there's stuff like this which they basically pre-solicit by months (meaning they state it as a May release even when they KNOW it's for October):
