Wednesday stuff/linkdump
Apr. 18th, 2007 12:45 pm1. Happy birthday to
kradical! As I've said before, when folks make the usual stupid statements about all licensed books being crap (as opposed to merely adhering to Sturgeon's Law), Keith's one of the examples I hold up to prove 'em wrong (although I freely admit that I'd never have tried his licensed stuff if it weren't for his non-licensed work). Speaking of which, he's got a Buffy book that's officially coming out next week, but which Amazon claims is shipping now. I just tested that claim. If I get a book in two days, I guess it really is available. :-)
2. The moment I knew the Mets would win last night? When Philly went to the 'pen in the fourth inning. Nothing cures a scoring drought like facing the worst bullpen in the game.
2.5 Alas, nothing kills a Mets (one-game) winning streak like facing Dontrelle Willis. I'm not counting on a win tonight, although I'd gladly take a miracle.
3. Gene Upshaw, already the worst player-rep in any sport, is now going after NFL retirees who have the audacity to blog about how poorly-off they are.
4. The perfect Google Maps mashup for hypochondriacs!
5. PugSpot. The social network for people who think that Dogster isn't niche enough.
6. This Making Light post links to some still-relevent commentary on the various attempts to subvert tragedy for political means, and the comments note some specific examples of those doing it in light of the VA Tech shootings.
7. Crash Bandicoot is coming to the Wii!
9. The AJC got rid of Teresa Weaver? What the fuck? It's like the paper's been on a continuing mission to suck as much as possible over the last seventeen years; I'm actually nostalgic for the "quality" of the days when it had to compete with the Gwinnett Daily News.
10. Anyone wondering about the fate of Dodgball (which has been completely out-buzzed by Twitter over the last year) and its founders? We have some answers.
11. A rental program for hand-cut wooden jigsaw puzzles. God help you if your cat absconds with one of these pieces.
12. In case you actually believed any of the crap Richard Linzden spouted in the Newsweek Global Warming issue recently, don't bother.
13. Fraser's Spiral has long been one of my favorite optical illusions, but it's nice to see it illustrated in such a way that I don't get a headache verifying it.

Man, don't mess with the pug mafia, they are hardcore. They take over the dogpark every couple weeks for thier mass pug outings. They're better organized then the democratic party
