1. Happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] kradical! As I've said before, when folks make the usual stupid statements about all licensed books being crap (as opposed to merely adhering to Sturgeon's Law), Keith's one of the examples I hold up to prove 'em wrong (although I freely admit that I'd never have tried his licensed stuff if it weren't for his non-licensed work). Speaking of which, he's got a Buffy book that's officially coming out next week, but which Amazon claims is shipping now. I just tested that claim. If I get a book in two days, I guess it really is available. :-)

2. The moment I knew the Mets would win last night? When Philly went to the 'pen in the fourth inning. Nothing cures a scoring drought like facing the worst bullpen in the game.

2.5 Alas, nothing kills a Mets (one-game) winning streak like facing Dontrelle Willis. I'm not counting on a win tonight, although I'd gladly take a miracle.

3. Gene Upshaw, already the worst player-rep in any sport, is now going after NFL retirees who have the audacity to blog about how poorly-off they are.

4. The perfect Google Maps mashup for hypochondriacs!

5. PugSpot. The social network for people who think that Dogster isn't niche enough.

6. This Making Light post links to some still-relevent commentary on the various attempts to subvert tragedy for political means, and the comments note some specific examples of those doing it in light of the VA Tech shootings.

7. Crash Bandicoot is coming to the Wii!

9. The AJC got rid of Teresa Weaver? What the fuck? It's like the paper's been on a continuing mission to suck as much as possible over the last seventeen years; I'm actually nostalgic for the "quality" of the days when it had to compete with the Gwinnett Daily News.

10. Anyone wondering about the fate of Dodgball (which has been completely out-buzzed by Twitter over the last year) and its founders? We have some answers.

11. A rental program for hand-cut wooden jigsaw puzzles. God help you if your cat absconds with one of these pieces.

12. In case you actually believed any of the crap Richard Linzden spouted in the Newsweek Global Warming issue recently, don't bother.

13. Fraser's Spiral has long been one of my favorite optical illusions, but it's nice to see it illustrated in such a way that I don't get a headache verifying it.

My new nickname should be Excitable Boy.

So speaking of the Wii, have you guys gotten the game with the knitted cows and stuff? I will remember the title in a little while, as soon as I'm off the internet. Can I come over and play sometime? I have not yet touched a Wii (good grief, that sounds so dirty) and my Nintendo fan-girl cred is in dnager of being taken away.

Awesome, I will have to think of a time when I can make that happen. And really, it shouldn't be too hard, as my boyfriend lives kinda near you and ya'll should meet him at some point anyway. I'll see what we're doing this weekend and when you guys are up for visitors.

The quote in the Making Light post (originally from LJer "supergee"), is a thing of beauty.

Man, don't mess with the pug mafia, they are hardcore. They take over the dogpark every couple weeks for thier mass pug outings. They're better organized then the democratic party

Thanks so much! And it's nice to see someone who came to the tie-in work via Dragon Precinct instead of the other way 'round. *grin*

I got my contributor's copies of The Deathless weeks ago, so I'm amazed it's taken this long for it to show up at retail outlets.......

Again, thanks, for both the birthday wishes and the compliment!

I generally use authors' original fiction as a guide to which licensed books to buy. I'm current'y enjoying Diane Duane's Star Trek books.

Your #4 strikes me as a perfect "lead in" to either a zombie film or another epidemic/bio-weapon movie.

Neat stuff. Thanks for posting.
