CSI: Miami

Could someone explain to me how this show can suck so much more than either its progenitor (CSI) or its own spin-off (CSI: NY)? I mean, sure, David Caruso is god-awful (and comparing him to Peterson or Sinise isn't exactly fair), but the writing on this show is way, way worse than on the other two. And (Khandi Alexander's Alexx aside) the characters here just blow.

The writers spend so much time figuring out clever lines for Caruso to say while he puts on and/or takes off his sunglasses that they don't have much time to come up with a plot.

Most annoying thing in the UNIVERSE.

The missus and I openly mock him when watching the other 2 shows. We take Peterson and Sinise lines and make them awful by delivering them like Caruso...including the dramatic pause for the shades.

GAH!

He soooooooooooooo blows.

William Shatner taught his padwan Caruso well..

I wonder if there's anyone watching that show that... *removes sunglasses*... doesn't mock him.

It's probably both, as indicated by this hilarious montage of Caruso one liners: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sarYH0z948

Urgh, I could only manage about 2:30 of that sequence. Still, at least they've gotten better at hiding the strings since the days of Thunderbirds.

They should change the name to CSI: Thong Shots During Cut Scenes, since that's the major draw as far as I can tell.

I stopped watching it a few months ago. I used to enjoy it in the beginning (and I hate the NY spinoff, haven't given it another shot after it's first couple episodes, but there was something about it I hated...maybe it was simply the fact I am from NY and it wasn't realistic from that standpoint, but maybe it got better after it's release...).

Anyway, I have thought about it. I stopped watching it when the whole Brazil thing started happening. I saw the episode where Eric Delko's character was in the hospital after being shot. I have no idea if he went back, but I was so disgusted with the show. It seems like they want to focus so much on the character's outside their job on the show. That and I don't like how they change the personalities of them to make characters have tension (re: Ryan, they completely changed him from when they introduced him).

I still love Vegas. I like the fact they don't focus on the characters as much. They focus on a good story. Yes, I know some of their life story (example: Grissom and Sara (gag)) but it's not as important to the show as they make it in Miami. Just bor-ring.

I realized 5 minutes into the first ep of Miami, that it was going to totally blow, and I never went back.

I'm going to come out and say that I sort of enjoy it. I went to school in Miami, so I get the amusment of seeing their version of it, I think Caruso is hilarious, and I don't care enough about any of the characters to get involved in their lives, so I can laugh when something ridiculous happens.

I don't watch it religiously or anything. Just if I happen upon it.

CSI: Miami has now supplanted Baywatch as Earth's most popular TV show on a worldwide basis...

They don't have time for plot.
Too busy showing Caruso putting on his sunglasses, standing with hands on hips and jacket pushed back, on one knee looking at crime scene catching stuff the entire rest of the unit missed,
standing with his 9 mm and head tilted to one side and feet apart the exact same way every time he draws on someone, delivering one liners dripping with omnipotent menace to criminals, getting the last word in in every conversation, etc etc etc.

The cop (detective) as a demigod. At least Goran on L&O:CI (the only L&O i can stand to watch) does it with a self effacing sense of humour.

Whenever i see Horatio on CSI:Miami, the line "Strike a Pose" from the
Madonna song pops into my head ;)

Oh, and he delivers his lines with more affectations in speech pattern, meaningful pauses and timing than William Shatner ever dreamed of...
except he does it on purpose, somehow thinking it's dramatic.

He used to be a lot better back in the Michael Mann films, now his acting is reduced to a half dozen cliches.

Thank god! Someone else who hates Caruso and this lame ass excuse for a show.

I enjoy watching the show - but only because I like to mock Caruso. (*strikes a Caruso pose: Hands on hips, body turned to the side, head toward camera*)
It's sort of like watching Star Trek and then having a blast impersonating Shatner...
(I also like Alex, however. Too bad she can't be exported to another show...)

Don't know why you guys are giving Alex amnesty. It's not like she does anything but stand over a dead body and say "poor honey-child didn't stand a chance". Not much better than "I don't know nothin' 'bout interring no remains, Massa Caine".

What a different show it would be if they had killed off Delko instead of Speadle.

I've only watched one or two and the plot holes were so huge that I couldn't be bothered to watch again. I mean, these were bigger plot holes then the mysteries on Monk, but it doesn't bother me there because I'm watching for the characters and not the mystery.

Amazingly, it's the most popular show in the world right now. Wait, that crown used to belong to Bay Watch. That explains it.
