I posted a couple of months back about my sadness over the loss of Premiere Magazine.

Well, I got a card in the mail from them informing me that the remaining issues of my subscription would be filled by Us Weekly.

Fucking hell.

I'm trying to think of a magazine they could have picked that's less like Premiere in every way imaginable. The National Enquirer? Playgirl? Mormonism Monthly?

that's... icky.
i got a much better deal when i was informed that 'dragon' and 'dungeon' won't be printed anymore.
at least i was offered my money back instead of some insipid trash like 'us weekly.'

paizo is still accepting subs for their future projects, but wizards of the coast is remaining tight lipped on the subject of submissions, at the moment.

That reminds me of when American Film folded and the replacement was- yes- Entertainment Weekly.

They couldn't reimburse you with free movie passes?

Yeah, I got that too. I actually thought they were sending Entertainment Weekly as a replacement until I found out my FIL ordered it for me because he felt bad that Premier went away (it was his yearly birthday present to me).

Perhaps they could have given us a subscription to amateur gynecology.

Yikes.

I've been receiving Ladies Home Journal and couldn't figure out why. I contacted them a time or two to try to get to the bottom of it.

Not long ago I realized what must've happened-- I started receiving it after Budget Living folded. Which, well, is very lame.

I don't do magazine subscriptions despite the savings, i prefer to pick individual issues. So i don't know much about the terms.
But how can they force an unwanted magazine title on you instead of refunding
or at least letting *you* pick the substitute?

I get The Guardian as my daily paper. One day, a few years back, they didn't have any, so the paperboy substituted the The Daily Mail (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/dailymail/home.html?in_page_id=1766) - the Fred Phelps of daily papers.

I picked it up very gingerly by one corner and deposited it in the bin.

That sucks. Premiere was a great magazine. They just shut down? Hate when that happens.
