From the latest Programming Insider:

"Si Fi Channel has announced a new themed block called Ani-Monday, which will feature a collection of movies, series and shorts from Starz Media’s Anime distribution arm. It premieres on Monday, June 11 and airs from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. Sci Fi’s Ani-Monday will feature the premiere of Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society, plus feature films like Ninja Scroll, Blackjack and Blood, The Last Vampire, Read or Die."

This is good news?...after the last time SciFi tried anime?...how sliced, diced, smothered, chunked, and covered for work and family safety will they make these?

They still show anime fairly regularly. Adult Swim and Mugazi in particular. Some of the stuff has sucked because it sucked to start with, some because it was likely hacked up by whoever was the American distributor and some has been good...

Also I thought they had already aired both the Ghost in the Shell series and Read or Die on Adult Swim...

Actually, it's not a new series, but the 3rd GitS movie Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society (movie) (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=6717) and as the title suggests, it continues the storyline of the TV series, not the first two movies.

Also, if it's only a 2-hour programing block, Read-Or-Die will most likely be the 3 episode OVA that was pieced together as a movie as shown on AS a few years ago and not the follow-up series.

That's Cartoon Network...SciFi Channel last tried a few years back and the results were not pretty...maybe they'll treat it decently...but not holding my breath...

Heh Ani-Monday

For a second, I thought it was going to be Ani Defranco music video night or something. (Honestly, that's the first thing I thought of when I saw Ani).
