We caught up on the last month of Lost yesterday before catching Heroes.

Lost:

So, is Locke dead? Could be, but I doubt it.

The big pre-May spoilers promised us five deaths (presumably not counting flashbacks). Locke's dad is one, but that still leaves us with four.

Arguments in favor of Locke being one of the remaining four: His backstory has been played out (see Boone and Eko); it makes Ben even more of a villain than previously thought; he's lying in a ditch with a gunshot wound to the gut.

Arguments against: He was, technically, still alive at the end of the episode (why have him then die at the beginning of the next?); he's got potential romantic tension with Ben's daughter; he'll never see his buddy Bat Manuel again; his ability to hear Jacob implies that he really is special. It's this last one that most convinces me.

As for who is likely to die, I see at least one of Charlie and Desmond headed for the afterlife (or after-afterlife, if you buy that particular theory). I'm guessing that one of Julia or Ben has a big target on their chests, as well. If all four of them bite it, of course, that completes the set. Otherwise, Mikhail or Dick could both die (although both are pretty minor). Rousseau is certainly another possibility.

Other than Charlie, I don't see any of the original castaways biting it, although it's certainly possible to surprise us and kill almost anyone but Jack, Kate, Sawyer, or Hurley. Killing Jin, for example, would be a hell of a nasty thing do to Sun.

I also really, really want to see Jack die. Or at least get punched in the face a lot. Alas, I doubt it'll happen.

Also, the moment two episodes ago with Locke and Rousseau? Fucking priceless.

And as for Heroes:

Dude. Linderman's dead. And what an amazing fucking death.

D.L. has always seemed doomed to me, but I liked how his death scene played out (and that final moment of vengeance was just perfect). And Jessica/Nikki during that sequence was amazing.

We also saw the deaths of Ted and Thompson. A pretty high body count there.

I loved Candace's comment about being fat. Hell, I just love everything Missy Peregrym is doing with that character (although I have to wonder what'll happen to her with the death of her boss; the future in which she's killed by Sylar seems one way to go, but at this point, Sylar is already ludicrously overpowered; adding either illusion or invisibility to his list would put him over the top, so I'm betting that both of those powers are off the table.

Is Nathan going to go down the dark road towards evil? I don't know. WIth Linderman out of the picture, and with most of what Hiro saw in the future the result of Sylar's actions, I'd say it's a possibility, but he's more likely to exist in the gray area traditionally occupied by politicians.

Also, loved the entire sequence between Hiro and his dad (although poor Ando could have been clued in on what was going on).

One annoyance: Peter could save Claire, but not Ted?

A concern for next week: Parkman looks to be shot in the gut. That's not good.

I was wondering what the hell happened with Parkman. It looked like Mohinder shot him, but it was so fast and they didn't seem to make a big deal out of it. Like the show suddenly became Reservoir Dogs.

I hope he's just unconscious.

But it looks like everything is going the way it's supposed to be going according to the Days of Future Past episode. Candace is one hell of a needy character. Too bad it looks like she's just as doomed as Ted. Sylar needs her powers.

I thought Parkman had just gotten clobbered. I didn't hear a shot. The episode recap doesn't mention one way or the other - I would guess that if he'd been shot they'd've mentioned it, but not necessarily.

The scene in the elevator was just the right touch of absurdity. "Didn't I throw you out a window?"

...and the ending shots of Sylar on the roof reminded me so much of some shots of Peter from the pilot. I actually said out loud, "Umm, you can't fly yet..." The "Boom" still gives me the shivers.

Aha. Found a picture in the gallery (http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/photos/general/22349.shtml#photo) - Mohinder hit Parkman in the back of the head with a fire extinguisher. Given that we can apply Comic Book Physics, he's down with a good bell-ringin', but no worse off than that.

I'm not sure, but Yendi may be talking about the trailer for the next episode. I also noted a scene flash that appeared to be Mohinder crouched over Parkman, who was sporting a bloody gut.

I saw it too - he definitely looked like he'd been shot or stabbed.

I actually cheered out loud at Linderman's death.

Them making Candice more of a human was an unexpected touch. I still think she is pretty damned evil. But she's becoming more of a dark dark evil vs a pure dark evil.

Poor Ted! He really wanted to change his life around and to die in shock in chains upside down. That was a pretty hideous way to go.

My poor doomed husband who is only watching the last three episodes with me has no idea what the hell is going on. And he is too busy writing the final two chapters of the book to watch them with me. I can not WAIT for the stupid thing to be over and done with.

I need to make a Heroes icon. And a BSG one. I still haven't gotten into Lost, even with trying. Maybe I'll try again later.

Oh, and about Parkman. The word on the street is we'll find out what made him a horrible person in the episode Five Years Gone before the end of this season. I'm guessing it will happen in the next episode since I thought it would happen during this one. And read the graphic novel. It looks as though things are changing...

If Hana dies that means she is not alive for Five Years Gone. That's a change that is fairly significant.

We did see Sylar go invisible this week, so I think that one is still in play.

I don't think that was actual proof that Sylar went invisible, and I think if he'd killed Claude (the main way he could have gotten that ability), they would have shown it on camera. Usually for actually going invisible they're quite happy to show the FX of the person shimmering out.

I think it was more to make you wonder and ponder what other powers Sylar has that let him vanish so quickly.

In other news, I was freakin' ecstatic that they finally had Peter's absorbed mind-reading ability do some good. There have been *so many* scenes that I have yelled at the TV because the ability would completely fix a problem - but then that would make it too easy.

Other stuff -
- Shouldn't DL be able to "phase" into his body to get the bullet out?
- Why didn't Parkman "hear" sooner that the tracking system was a person?
- Did anyone else notice that Mr. Nakamura used the same phrases that Linderman did to explain things? "Some of the group went astray..." or something along those lines. Same perception from opposite sides?
- "You won't catch me running around with my underwear on the outside of my pants." Bwah!
- You know Sylar is after you. You know he just thought "I can use the FBI to get to Ted.." Why did you walk into a building, stay there a while, and walk out of the same building?

Even if D.L. phased the bullet out, he'd still have to stop the bleeding - which is what is killing him.
The other points are valid (as my wife and I talked about after the show). Sylar just pulled a Batman, not going invisible.

Yeah, even if he can pull the bullet out, it's already done it's damage. Torn blood vessels, punctured organs--whatever. Grabbing Nikki and going desolid so Linderman couldn't shoot either of them would have been a better move.

Or failing that, don't just step in front of Nikki--TACKLE Linderman. Then you might avoid getting shot, or at least Linderman won't have a chance to AIM....

My favorite scene of the whole episode:

"What am I thinking now, Parkman?"
"Your last thought." Blam! Blam!

That so needs to be an icon.

Yay, Mr. Bennett. (He'd have done better to shoot first, _then_ make a witty remark*, but it was nice to see some decisive action here.)

Well Terry O'Quinn apparently just sold his house in Hawaii, per Kristin on E!, but she also notes that he may just have decided to rent...

And romantic tension with Alex (Ben's "daughter") - you really think so?

I love that they've started finally answering questions, while raising a whole host of new ones.

I'm with you on the Jack-needs-to-be-punched.

"he's got potential romantic tension with Ben's daughter;"

Isn't she a teenager? Ew!

I don't think Ben will die, just because his flashback ep hinted at lots of "untold stories" about him and The Others. (Ex. Was young Ben's girlfriend with the Dharmas when they gassed the place?)

Jack, Locke, Ben, etc. and practically all of the "leadership role" characters in the show have a tendency to withhold information for other people's "own good," then get all huffy and indignant when anyone, quite reasonably, calls them on it.

Isn't she a teenager? Ew!

Exactly!

Was young Ben's girlfriend with the Dharmas when they gassed the place?

Husband and I had the same question - we think she's going to turn out to be another character, grown up. I'm thinking maybe Libby??? (Hurley's galpal who was in the institution with him.)

have a tendency to withhold information for other people's "own good," then get all huffy and indignant when anyone, quite reasonably, calls them on it.

That's an immense source of frustration to me in any plot that could be easily cleared up if a character would just answer a question directly. They've gotten better about it overall, I think, on Lost. But if Juliet gives that almost-sympathetic look to one more character while not really answering a question, I hope she gets smacked upside the head.

Overall, though, Husband and I have definitely regained our interest in the show this year.

Someone posted three of the LOST deaths in ONTD yesterday, if you like spoilers you can see them there.

I'd be surprised if Locke was dead for good. I think the island is going to heal him of his 'specialness'. Plus, I haven't read too much about Locke leaving the show. Usually there's tons of gossip beforehand (or at least there was when Boone & Shannon died, and with one of the five deaths coming up), and I didn't read anything about Locke.

ONTD is ohnotheydidnt a celebrity gossip community.

or as I know it, the reason why I get so very little work done.

You'll have to do some digging to find it because the community is updated a ton so if you do want to find it, it'll take some effort ;)

I assumed Sylar would have to kill her since he has shapeshifting ability in the "future" episode from before. He'd become the Pres remember.

You know, the more I watch Heroes the more frustrated I get with some of the characters. At this point, I'm ready for Sylar and Peter to kill each other and for Hiro to actually do something. Anything. Depending on next week's ep, I may not be back for season 2. And that just makes me sad.

i dont think DL is dead, as i saw him with JessiNiki in another room, looking at something. he might still die, but i dont know if hes fully gone yet.

i bet molly is gonna call matt her hero, which will cause bennet to shoot parkman accidentally, and molly will run away, and bennet will chase here only to not kill her as hes becoming what he didnt want to become in the end (as he couldnt really kill claude). mohinder will take molly and they'll run, possibly with parkman. with eric roberts (thompson? is that his name?) dead, its a little easier to deal with primatech now. i expect a resurgence from them in season 3, with some old leader that just came out of the woodwork.

my theory about nathan, and hiro's dad? so i think it ended up breaking down to two sides, with one side being linderman, mrs petrelli, and eric roberts character. the other side is mr. nakamura, claude, and (my theory) mr petrelli. basically, it was a question of whether or not the ends justified the means, with the 1st 3 saying it did, and the second 3 saying no. i think the company was set up to find the heroes necessary to cause the bomb, with the conspiracy going all the way to infecting mohinder's sister. since the 2nd 3 didnt want to kill everyone, theyve had to disappear. mr nakamura became a company head, and probably brokered a deal with linderman where the two would stay away from each other. claude also disappeared, but mr petrelli wouldnt. as a senator, he was too high profile and was too concerned about the people. so his suicide? mrs petrelli forced him to do it. nathan is gonna find out and go good to honor his father, saving peter in the process.

but i think about this show too much.
