It's so easy to forget that, while busy bollixing things up overseas and generally outsourcing domestic assholery to folks like Gonzo, Bush can still make time to fuck up on other fronts. The guy nominated to head the Consumer Products Safety Commission? A former lobbyiest for the very group of folks he's expected to police. And he's getting a $150K bonus from them right before taking the new job. As bribery goes, this ain't even subtle. Although bribery usually implies paying off someone to not do their job; this is more like The Departed, planting a mole who is never expected to actually do any good.

Add that to his choosing John Bolton (who said the UN should be blown up) as UN Ambassador, and Erick Keroack (who lobbied against ALL forms of birth control) to over see the family planning council for the Department of Health and Human Services.
