Monday links and stuff.
May. 21st, 2007 11:37 am1. Over at Girls Read Comics, there's a damned good explanation of the Bingo Board, including why so many of us get frustrated at having to explain so many of these points over and over again.
2. The Cutty Sark has been badly burnt. :-(
2.5. Cutty Sark is not the name of a slasher movie in which a killer stalks writers of colorful inspirational works. I'm just sayin'.
3. Yesterday, Mark Helprin continued to prove that almost anything he writes outside the realm of fiction can be replaced by the words Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! without any serious qualitative loss. Fortunately, there are some great responses that speak intelligently about copyright here and here
4. Try not to confuse your preferences with the English language. *snort*
5. Heroes Season 1 DVD in just over three months! With an unaired pilot (with Kring commentary), 50 deleted/extended scenes, a Tim Sale featurette, and lots of other bonus features. And I'm betting there'll be an easter egg or three.
6. AJC critic Eleanor Ringle-Gillespie on why she hates Star Wars. Alas. it's a piece that seems frustratingly short, and which doesn't really bring anything new to the table as it stands, just the usual complaint about the Blockbuster killing the '70s Auteur (just like Video Killed the Radio Star).
7. If you hate those annoying snap.com pop-up-previews of web pages (and who doesn't?), you can kill them with Firefox and AdblockPlus.
8. Harry Potter stamps. Not as cool as the DC Heroes stamps, though (and yes, I bought a sheet of the latter than will never be used to mail letters).
9. Finally, Starcraft II is a reality. Starcraft is tied with Marathon as my favorite computer game franchise (with Diablo just a step behind). Needless to say, I'm excited about this.

Date: 2007-05-21 03:59 pm (UTC)I'll definitely be hosting a viewing weekend for that one sometime this fall. :) I've already had a couple of friends ask if they can come watch it on the big screen after I get it...
