From assorted TV news websites:
1. Yes, Veronica Mars is dead. The CW isn't officially canceling it yet because they want to avoid excessive fan outcry (heaven forbid!), but given that the writers have been released to go to other shows, that June 15 deadline is pretty much meaningless. I'd seriously considered attempting to start a "shame the CW" campaign built around the slogan Don't Cha Wish Dawn Ostroff had Good Taste Like Me?, but I lack the energy (and I don't think enough folks would get it).
2. Rob Thomas is supposedly working on a spec comedy featuring Paula Marshall and Enrico Colantoni. That's a combo I'd watch for sure. Hell, I did watch it, during Season 2 of VM.
3. We're caught up on Heroes, GIlmore Girls, Scrubs, CSI, The Sopranos, and House. We're behind (by at least two weeks in all cases) on Veronica Mars, Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, and Medium. Just in case you're wondering.
4. S. Epatha Merkersen will be recurring on The Closer this summer! Yay!
5. Ausiello is reporting (direct from a conversation with her) that Amy Sherman Palladino expects to make a Gilmore Girls reunion movie sometime in the next couple of years to tie everything up (and finish with her famous last four words, which I've always assumed are either, "I love you, mom" or "I love you, Rory.").
6. Of next year's new shows, I am initially excited about The Return of Jezebel James, The Bionic Woman, Dirty Sexy Money, Reaper, Pushing Daisies, and New Amsterdam. I suspect that as more info on the shows comes to light, I'll drop some of those, and find that other shows (Back To You has potential if only because of Kelsey Grammer; Chuck has potential if only because it's ripping off the plot of Freakazoid!) might make my list by August.

Date: 2007-05-23 01:33 pm (UTC)I've said it before, I'll say it again: why isn't everyone a fan of Paula Marshall??? I am, you are, Rob Thomas obviously is... She could be a comedy goddess if enough people see her. Really, I once got a kind of young-Madeline Kahn vibe off of her.
I hope, if it happens, it actually works.

Date: 2007-05-23 03:05 pm (UTC)*sigh* I resigned myself to the loss of VM a few months ago...and didn't watch the rest of the season for a host of reasons, so at least it will be new to me on DVD if/when they release it. So sad.
I won't say anything about a GG movie because it appears you haven't seen the finale yet.

Date: 2007-05-23 04:33 pm (UTC)Oh, wait.
Damn, I hope this comes off. And I'll give Dawn the benefit of doubt; 3 seasons of Veronica Mars on the cusp was a gift, frankly. And I think you'll agree that this season wasn't as gripping as the prior two, for whatever reason.
I was ambivalent about The Sarah Connor Chronicles until I saw the trailer. I'm a huge T (1 and 2, avoided 3) fan, and, well, it's Summer Glau. After SERENITY, she can sell me as a Terminator.
