*can't help giggling*

I vote just a moron. One does not tell a fanbase the equivalent of "it's just a cartoony picture, you obsessive weirdos", and that sounds about what he was saying. (Oops, now I've gone and said it...)

Ah well. Something soon will surely make me fear for my fandom (http://nodwick.humor.gamespy.com/ffn/index.php?date=2007-04-25).

DUH

Yeah - the comic guy has no idea what is going on in the comic industry - no wonder they are in trouble - and the female artist scam - she's gotta eat eat, too - refusal to do a project means not working - now and later - (that doesn't excuse it, just explains it)- I used to buy and read comics - then all female characters got breasts got as big as mine (wish my waist had ever been that small)and their brains got teeny, tiny - decided to save my money

Okay, I'm not a deeper follower of manga either, and even I know about the tentacle porn side of hentai.

When I worked in college admissions, we kept track of what other schools were doing, so we could be more competitive. ("How much is UF offering National Merit Scholars? Find out and offer $2,000 more.") I would think that someone that high up in an American comic company would know something about his competition. It's just good business.

ditto...in an era when even my 80something Mississippi grandmother knows what hentai is(thanks to daytime talk shows on the evil on anime), he certainly knows about the competition...

not anime by itself...more as part of the various eeeeviiills that seek out your children...much like the Law and Order where the cops confirm a perp was guilty because they found he owned a copy of Rapeman amongst other anime...

How does ownership of Rapeman and other anime prove that someone committed crimes?

Coming at this from a pretty objective perspective - meaning I don't read comics anymore, and I'd never even seen Hentai until remarkably recently: he's a moron and he's full of shit.

I don't read comics. I have never read any manga at all.

And yet, even I am theoretically familiar with the basic concept of tentacle rape, and whatever sex/gender the artist may or may not have been, that's what s/he was alluding to.

In fact, it's my guess they did it on purpose, figuring it'd go over the heads of the 9-year-olds and be a good titter for the more knowledgeable. And then they got called on it and are trying to backtrack.

I am gonna chime in with [livejournal.com profile] cissa here. Excellent point. The gender of the artist does *not* matter.

If you are in the comics business, you oughta know all forms.

Whether or not the Brood has tentacles, doesn't mean you use them in a sexually suggestive way. I have a penis. There are, as far as I know, no extent pictures of me in which you can see it.

The above poll is.

A. Asinine.
B. Offensive.
C. Asinine and Offensive.
D. As much of a waste of time as the entire mastaburtory geek-war that has been cause by a few pictures, none of which I would have seen if people hadn't been bitching about them, are on the grand scale of things not that offensive, and have had their sales boosted by the fact people are having a tizzy.

Peace.

Ignorance is no excuse...

Even if he never saw a tentacle in his life, it's no excuse. The picture looks porny... sticky white stuff is dripping everywhere. It's just obviously nasty. Ignorance of tentacles is not an excuse.
