WTF??? Seriously, WTF? I can't even say anything funny about this.

I mean, great that she loves Tom Waits, but is she going to have a tracheotomy or something to let her sing the songs? I guess her voice is kind of smoky, but... WTF. *gives up figuring it out*

I think that's a little unfair. Did anybody demand that Willie Nelson's larynx be crushed before he recorded Willie Nelson Sings Kristofferson ? Did they make the Byrds gargle Drano to cover Dylan?

I'm not demanding that Johansson sing like Waits, but I don't think she's shown that she's capable of doing justice to his music.

I honestly don't know how to feel about that, since I've never heard of Tom Waits until now. I expect horrific singing from Scarlett Johansson, though, no matter what Waits is.

As a huge fan of Tom Waits, I am dubious. I am game to hear what she has to sing, but very skeptical at the same time.

Tom can be a bit of an acquired taste, but he really is brilliant and bold and odd. Scarlett? not so much...
