1. Thanks to a timely post by CKD, I remembered that there was a new Suzanne Vega Album. I now have it. And it kicks ass. Which is basically redundant, since I already said "Suzanne Vega." (Yes, it really is better than the new Poison album, even.). It's especially wonderful if you've got any New York ties, as this is an incredibly NYC-centric album.

2. Night Shade Books is having a 50% off sale on in-stock and forthcoming books (with a four-book minimum). That includes next year's Greg Egan book (head's up, [livejournal.com profile] kizlj), Kage Baker's Dark Mondays, Elizabeth Bear's The Chains that You Refuse, and lots of other good stuff. Coupon code is NSB0750

3. Miro (the video player formerly known as Democracy) is out! Yay! It's free, and runs on whatever OS you might have, be it OSX, Linux, or Miscellaneous.

4. A McFarlane MMO? I can only assume that instead of leveling up, your character's cape gets bigger, and the top characters have capes that span entire cities.

5. Free Ride, Downey, and Bounce samples!

6. Orlando Hernandez became the first pitcher to steal bases in back-to-back starts in forty years. Damned impressive, especially considering his age (whatever it might be).

7. James Macdonald has posted some great Emergency Medicine entries, and after the latest batch, he compiled a nice index to all of them. My goal is to never have to need any of the knowledge in these posts, but if I find myself in a situation that requires is, the more I can retain from them, the better.

8. Obligatory KOL update: FInished all the level 11 sub-quests. With 6 turns to go, alas, so no Ed the Undying for me today!

9. How kids are (not) using email.

10. Finally, the Smoking Gun has the full Michael Vick indictment. If the charges are accurate, he deserves way worse than he'll actually get.

Oh God, I had to stop reading after the 6th page of the indictment. It made my stomach hurt to read it. Those poor dogs. The scumbag deserves to torn apart limb from limb for this.

Those poor dogs.

woah, Night Shade is the US publisher? Odd. I knew Incandescence was due in May from Gollancz. Didn't realise he'd gone small press for the US run.

I'm fighting the Naughty Sorceress for the first time, but I have a feeling it's going to be so irritating that I'm going to give up and quit KoL (again).

the todd mcfarlane and curt schilling mmo. i cant wait for the level 15 bloody sock of invincible power. theres also the level 50 holy grail of perfect games, though curt's character can never touch it.

upon further wiki-ing of schilling and mcfarlane, wow, they both suck. also, how is green monster games no named after the red sox? thats like being a cubs player and naming my game company harry carrie happiness.

if i had to make an mmo with any baseball player - kyle farnsworth. entirely because of his brawling abilities.
