Busy day today. Including a phone meeting in twenty minutes.

1. More Wikipedia follies over at Making Light.

2. In spite of the fact that the state's AG says that violates state law, many Tennessee schools still intend to continue with random drug testing. Why? Because, "we feel it gives kids another reason to say no - they can't do drugs because they may be tested." Might I also suggest that they chain kids to their desks, which is an effective deterrent to roughhousing and running in the halls?

3. John Maine hit a homer! Woo! He also pitched pretty damned well. Although it was against the Pirates.

4. Holy shit! Creative Loafing bought the Chicago Reader!

5. A few years ago, I got [livejournal.com profile] shadesong a jewelry armoire. Turns out I could have gotten her a Craftsman Tool Chest for only five times the price (and ten times the romance).

6. Narcissa Malfoy = Naoimi Watts. Didn't see that one coming.

7. That awesome series finale of Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law? Watch it online!

8. I have a new Tegan and Sarah album and you (probably) don't! But you should, as it's awesome.

9. $1 off any Mountain Dew Smoothie at Cold Stone Creamery. The only drawback is that you end up stuck with a Cold Stone Creamery smoothie.

10. Finally, Patton Oswalt on his favorite book of all time.

Ew, who wants a craftman toolbox sitting on their dresser? There's like 30 better options I could easily think of before thinking of toolbox. Clearly the woman has never been to Urban Outfitters.

gotta agree with you on that. My parents gave me a jewelry armoire a lifetime ago and even though it's kind of a pain to place in the house (what with a door on each side) it's fantastic for jewelry and RPing dice and all kinds of small what-nots I don't want to lose. More than anything, it looks nice. Why would I want a toolbox instead? I'd sooner get a plastic organizer bin from the container store which is what my best friend uses for her makeup.

Agreed about it being nicer looking. I mean unless your bedroom is designed by Tim "The ToolMan" Taylor, it's gotta look horribly out of place.

I really want a jewelry armoire. Right now I have dozens of little wooden boxes that I've collected on different travels & vacations.

found a picture, ain't the internet grand?

now isn't that nicer than any TOOLBOX?

I just got lucky becuase my parents found this in the house they were renting out when the tenant skipped town on rent.

Oh wow, I didn't realize they were that big. Yikes, that's gotta look really out of place in a bedroom.

Can I ask where you got 'song's from? I have a ton of jewelry that I keep in little wooden boxes. They're pretty, but with so many of them, it's a lot of clutter.

A friend's wife has lined her dresser with what looks like tacklebox or craft storage organizers, and uses those to organize her jewelry.

It looks very utilitarian, and in her case I think it defines pretty much how she views jewelry, make-up, etc: they are tools.

(I've never had an armoire; I currently use a photo storage box with varied smaller containers inside to keep things organized, and necklaces live on hooks on a closet door.)

Naomi Watts actually fits the part rather well, in my opinion.

Now I need to reread the book. Who the hell will Stuart Townsend be playing?

And if they chain the kids to the desks, they can't get any drugs, either. This could work.
