lizlet went to Comicon, and interviewed kids about the experience.
2. Lee Hazlewood has died. I had not realized what name he'd given to his final album until reading this article.
3. How long to keep open items in your fridge. Turns out that "until they gain sentience and walk out on their own" isn't the correct answer.
4. Alasdair Gray has a blog (ganked from Gavin Grant, currently filling in for Jessa over at Bookslut)!
5. Turns out that, as a direct reaction to his own racism, Florida GOP legislator Bob Allen was forced -- forced, I tell you! -- to turn gay. That's his story, and he's sticking to it.
6. Xbox 360 price drops! Woohoo! Not that I can afford or justify one yet, but this brings them a step closer to affordability.
7. 55% off the first nine seasons of The Simpsons!
8. No one wanted to claim WIlly Mo Pena off wavers? That's impossible!
9. John Gardner died. :-( No, not the one who wrote Grendel, but the one who wrote Bond novels. I actually read his take on Bond before I read Fleming (or Amis).
10. New iMacs! And new Minis! The iMac is getting dangerously tempting.

Date: 2007-08-08 08:28 pm (UTC)Tuesday before the event a 20" 2.16Ghz iMac with 2 gig memory and the 256 vid card upgrade and applecare was $1918. After the event a 20" 2.4Ghz iMac with 2 gig memory (vid card already 256meg) and applecare is $1818.
With my college's educational discount, I can get the same unit for $1653
I'm leaning really hard towards finally buying a new desktop to replace my 1ghz upgraded sawtooth. Just trying to justify it to myself right now.
tempting.......
