*gasp* Could Mary Jane and Peter Parker be heading towards splitsville?

For, you know, the thousandth time?

The thing is, in a world in which death means nothing, divorce, infidelity, new sidekicks, new teams, drug addictions, economic windfalls/disasters, random character changes (hey, '90s Sue Storm, is that a cut-out number 4 on your chest?), Durlan/Skrull dopplegangers posing as the wives of heroes, and other *gasp* moments mean even less. In today's comic book world, every significant change is a dream, a hoax, and probably an imaginary story. And the hype only underscores the actual lack of meaning.

This is one of the main reasons I don't read (most) American comics anymore. While manga is absolutely full of its own tropes and cliches, stories end. 100% open canon gets really boring after a while.

Hah, I said almost exactly the same thing, minus the addendum (which I agree with).

It could be worse... at least it's not clones...

Reason #961 why I don't read mainstream American superhero comics anymore.

Sigh... its all crap.

With very few exceptions, Marvel and DC are dead to me.

At least DC has Vertigo. I feel actual sadness everytime I finish a copy of Fables and have to wait for the next one to come out.

And I'm really glad that Dynamite picked up "The Boys" after DC dumped it.
