Mike Wieringo, R.I.P.

Mike Wieringo -- aka "Ringo" -- has died of a heart attack.

I've been a huge Ringo fan ever since Tellos, and followed him on Waid's Fantastic Four and David's Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

He was one of the most talented artists in the industry (which I realize sounds like I'm damning him with faint praise, but he'd be talented in any era), and by all accounts was also a wonderful person.

He was a wonderful person. Most of my interaction with him was because of FNSM while he was the artist on the book. Nice guy and he made time for his fans. I loved looking at what he would throw up on his website so all could see what he was up to.

a) he was only one year older than my mom was when she died of a heart attack.

b) I never got the nerve to say I liked his work the two times I went up to the Baltimore Comic-Con. I was sure I would have gotten the nerve this time around. Now it is too late to act like goofy bloody fan in front of him.
