Wednesday stuff
Aug. 15th, 2007 11:15 am1. Congratulations to Bobby Cox on breaking one of the longest-held records in baseball. May the record continue to be extended.
2. Bye-bye, Hastert.
3. Lisa Marie Presley records yet another unwanted duet with her dad. Forbidden Broadway parodied Natalie Cole's version of this gimmick as "Unforgivable." And at least she'd shown a lick of talent in her life before recording the duet. Also, the best duet with Elvis covering "In the Ghetto" was by Eric Cartman.
4. Painkiller Jane cancelled; no one notices.
5. RIAA: Deadbeats.
6. Not only can any moron become a Wikipedia editor (a long-known fact), but it looks like any moron can become a Wikipedia admin. That, or maybe they just recruit very special morons.
7. Amazon's latest DVD sale: Classic Sci-FI DVDs, with 50% off a bunch of them, like The Day the Earth Stood Still, Night of the Comet, Mad Max, Lost in Space (the show), and Willow.
8. How to cold-brew iced coffee.
9. Jose Offerman: Officially nuts. Seriously. I mean, charging the mound after dropping the bat is one thing. Charging it with the bat, using it as a weapon? No fucking way.
10. Stuff Magazine will be cancelled and only exist as a section within Maxim. Which only makes me wonder what difference there was in the first place (and no, I don't buy the ones listed in the article). Both were pretty much about the pinups of celebrities (or pseudo-celebs), with crappy articles thrown in. Will the "Stuff" section of Maxim be where they put crappier articles? Cheesecakier pinups?

Date: 2007-08-15 10:17 pm (UTC)The chick they cast as Dale can't act, let alone deliver a line in anything less than a hurried monotone...
The 'aliens' rather than being a wide-spread multi-cultural group are either monstrous or weirdly anglo-saxon and beige.
I mean really? a blond white guy as Ming? hello...
At least they guy playing Flash is decent - but he's a solitary bulb on an otherwise dead string of christmas lights...

Date: 2007-08-15 10:15 pm (UTC)(speaking of which FG isn't going to make it... while the guy playing Flash is good, an Aryan/Germanic Ming and a generally Anglo-saxon cast that can't act -- dear ghod could they get a more monotoned actess for dale? -- it's got none of the appeal of the multi-cultural FG of radio, serials, TV and movie - too beige)
I readily admit that I skipped PKJ... not surprised it was cancelled, it came across as a sad ripoff of Nikita with supernatural powers...

Date: 2007-08-16 03:02 am (UTC)I won't miss it, because I ended up watching it if it was on, not at a specific time and that isn't good for a show, especially when TIVO isn't in ratings yet and I don't even have TIVO.
